it just means more competition these bad contract guys are mostly here because we would be getting paid to take on their contract I would think it shouldn't matter if that guy happens to get beaten out in a competitive scenario and has to play in the AHL as again we ultimately have the cap space and that younger player shouldn't need that cap space yet. - blizzzard
I like the pick that is included with Brown, the 11th, but it is steep. Callahan, Clarkson, and Staal would be the ideal contracts to take, not all 3, but maybe 2.
Staal would be on our 2nd pair and Callahan on our 2nd line. The Devils don't have many RWs, Maybe Bastian and Anderson, but by the time they make the NHL if they do, Callahan would be off. And we don't have any dman that would be interfered with by having Staal on the LS. |

I think the Staal one makes a lot of sense for the Devils. If you can get Graves and a 2nd next to it that would be decent.
I foresee a logjam at the forward positions so maybe someone has to switch sides (Bennett f.i.) because you will have a lot of young guns aiming for spots. |

If the NYR are offering Staal and a 1st to VGK, then that's what the deal would be for the Devils, maybe even Gropp.
The Devils have a lot of guys that can play C/LW, RW is pretty weak. Cam would probably have to switch sides. They also have too many guys that are 4th liners. |

Yeah, if you can get a 1st, surely do it. The term of the Staal contract is OK. Callahan is also a good option. I think the Brown contract is too long and if LA wants to move him it must be to Vegas |

Also, a deal that could work is:
Cammarelli and ? to NYR for 21st, Staal, Gropp, and Nash(Rangers would save over 8 mil) |

I don't think the Rangers will do that because Nash has a year less than Cammalleri.
Imagine what you can get if you take both Girardi and Staal off their hands |

Bieska and 2nd(50th) to NJ for Blandisi/Noesen
Either 50th or BOS 2nd and 2018 2nd to MIN for Brodin and Pominville
The only way I would trade Santini is: Santini and 21st(NYR's 1st) for Trouba
Trouba is younger then Vatanen and their production is about the same.
Greene-Trouba
Brodin-Severson
Staal-Lovejoy/Bieska/Santini
Teams usually need a lot of dmen throughout the year and Santini playing top minutes in Bing won't hurt. |

Yeah, I wouldn't be on board for moving Santini. We have no one who can hit and make a pass. I would really like to see how far he comes in a couple of years and if it isn't far then I would be willing to let him go. He was our first pick in the super talented 2013 draft. |

That would be weird cycling santini in on the third pairing after trading him for trouba. |

It's not nit picky. It's the truth.
Both are wingers - Sure
Not centres - Sure
Both get 20-30 goals - Sure
JVR more goals - In the NHL Taylor Hall has 152 goals in 453 games, JVR 165 goals in 528 - So unless Hall goes on the worst rut in NHL history...no
Hall more assists - Sure 229 to 174 in a season less
Hall played with a lot more talent - He was always the top talent until McDavid rolled around
JVR not so much - JVR has always been a secondary player, whether it was Kessel or Marner, he's not the main player on his line, but yes, Bozak vs RNH offensively is pretty even (sadly for the Oilers)
One was first overall - Sure
One was second - Sure
They both get injured - Sure
They both were traded for lesser then they should of been at about the same time in there careers - Sure
Jvr is Hall but younger - What? - AdamFrench

Winnipeg has made it abundantly clear that they're going to need a top 2 d to trade Trouba for and they want a left shot if I recall. Pretty much, last year, they would have traded him for Lindholm. Ana didn't want to so they worked out something else with Trouba and he actually did end up playing top line minutes most of the year.
I don't think they're anymore pressed to trade Trouba. They'll likely try to move their other RHD (Myers, Buff I think) and keep this guy. Even if getting rid of the other two means a cheap deal... |
