I think the Hawks are looking to totally clear Salary though
They have major cap issues for next season
So they can't take on any significant $$$ - jdfitz77
I think the Hawks should trade Panarin.
Those Toews and Kane contracts are really biting them in the ass, and now with how Toews has fallen, they can't afford to trade Kane |
|
|
|
if the hawks retained 25% of seabrook
would you give them bailey, borgen, carrier and 2 seconds for seabrook?
serious question - homiedclown
Probably |

we retain 30% of bogo
give them 2 cheap kids, bailey and carrier
they jump on it - homiedclown
That still has them taking on 5mil or so
And Seabrook's deal is still with us for SEVEN more years
How is that a good idea? |

With Panarin at a decent cap hit,
I think that's all the more reason they can NOT trade him
They're offense is really gonna center on those 2 plus any decent youngsters that may be coming up |

I wouldn't give them ONE of those options
That's freaking insane Homie
You're gonna give up all those assets...
for a guy that would cost over 5mil until he's 39yrs old?! |

Seabrook does not = Cup
Hell... Karlsson doesn't even equal Cup
And it's not just years 6 & 7
It's more likely years 4-7
And the Cap hit hamstrings us from doing anything else
We don't disagree often...
but we could t be further apart on this |

leetch played til he was 38
lindstrom til he was 42
chara is 40 now, he was fine as a 3 the last 2 years
nieds played at a great level at 37, his last year
'borque played til he was 41
seabrook is not at that level (norris), but he has not dropped off like people think
your getting him for 50 cents on the dollar and probably 5 decent years
and he has missed 13 games in 11 years

If u think Seabrook still has value for 5 years or so...
and that those pieces would get him...
Why not use those piece to get Vatanen (or whoever),
who is MUCH younger & at a better Cap hit |

JJ's one of the worst on here.
Seabrook is a hard pass, he got absolutely carved the (frank) up during the Nashville series |

your getting seabrook for pennies on the dollar
with vatanen you will have to overpay
just my 2 cents |

one is good, the other isn't.(although id take neither)
what's this dire need for mediocrity? rushing it by acquiring these players is exactly how team spends a decade in ninth place |

There's MANY MANY more who drop off the cliff before 35 than are productive after that age
Taking a gamble on Seabrook remaining productive that long only makes sense if he makes us a Cup contender right NOW
He does NOT though
Is he still good? Yeah... I think so
But is he any better than guys like Brodin and others who are being mentioned as available?
IF he is... it's not by much of a margin
Certainly not enough of a margin to risk that huge, long contract

I saw keith, panarin and toews play like crap as well
I just think that entire team was gripping their sticks too hard for the entire series
I mean they only got 3 goals in the series, 1 even strength

If they're gonna trade Panarin,
It's gotta be to get a guy on his ELC who will still produce for them
Not as a sweetener to get rid of Seabrook |

I think seabrook and keeping kane makes us a much better team than brodin and losing kane
at some point you need to make the playoffs and get this ball rolling, hell an 8th seed can make the finals
is seabrook the guy I want to target, no
can I name 20 guys I would rather have, probably
of those 20 guys, 12 or so could be had if you overpay
I am open minded if it happens
nothing more
nothing less |
