Another thing to consider...
Vegas will end up with players they want to trade for picks & prospects that will be able to help us |

i dont know where you are getting this from. Advanced stats say hes amazing offensively - Sabresfan-365
I believe it was Marek & Wyshinski who were talking about it on their posdcast recently
I listen to a lot of them, so I'm not positive
The basic discussion was how he was overrated
Specifically, the numbers showed he was deficient DEFENSIVELY

i mean he is, but when you're that good offensively who cares? hes an offensive d-man and nashville uses him as such. to say hes overrated is just as bad as the guys who say risto is a #6 because hes not a shut down guy. |

3. Bob Boughner swooped in and snared the Florida job with an outstanding interview. It’s a great landing spot for him, because the Panthers have a chance to be good right away.
There were reports out of China and the United Kingdom that the takeover of Southampton FC by Chinese investors Lander Sports Development is back on. In theory, that could free up chairman Ralph Krueger to re-insert himself into the Buffalo coaching picture, but, in practice, it appears extremely unlikely. It remains a drawn-out process, and the timeline doesn’t fit with what the Sabres need to do. That leaves Housley as a serious contender, with Tocchet lurking. Another Pittsburgh assistant, Jacques Martin, is potentially in the mix. Craig Berube interviewed, as did Washington assistant Todd Reirden. So there are options.
4. New York Rangers associate coach Scott Arniel also interviewed with both Buffalo and Florid |

remember when everyone wanted him?
10. Another interesting one I heard was Florida asking Keith Yandle to waive. That one raised eyebrows at the combine, because if Vegas wanted to take him and flip him, I think there would be a ton of interest, especially if the Golden Knights were willing to keep a little bit of his salary. But would he be willing to waive a year after signing? His call. |

13. Don’t think the Ducks are in on Evander Kane. I’d heard that, and have seen it reported, but the Intel suggests otherwise. |

Depends
Most offensive defensemen actually put up a huge % of their points on PP
So yeah,
I need them to be good defensively
Just bc they "generate" a good number of shots isn't enough for me
That leaves out other important factors, and can be skewed by their offensive zone start time vs their defensive zone start time
For example...
paying Shattenkirk 6-7mil is a huge mistake imo

I like the trades for the most part
NYR can't take Ennis back though
They can't protect him & they need the Cap space
Works if u sub in Carrier imo (or Bailey, Fasching, Baptiste or Rodrigues)
Also don't think alll those UFAs will sign...
but I see your thought process
And that makes sense to me
Just might have to be other UFAs signed after the big ones all go
We could also keep Klein (he's ok) for the 3rd pair if we can't sign a defenseman who makes sense
If all we did was trade #8 for Faulk (or someone similar),
then I'm ok with the offseason
If we bring in a 2nd guy for the top4 (without trading Kane or Sam)...
then I'm thrilled
If on top of those 2 things,
we can also scoop up someone like Nash or Neal, etc...
then the offseason is an insane success
and we are for sure in the playoffs! |

I didn't
He was last year's Shattenkirk
Yandle is better defensively, but not a huge amount |

yeah I was gonna keep klein, decided on grabby soupy instead and dumping him for a late pick
the lineup I made, allows kane to be moved and other wingers to slide up a line but not sure I put enough thought in for extending eichel, reinhart, kane (maybe) and antipin
looks like for something like what I created, one of foligno, girgens, larsson need to go

Not that far away that we need to pick 8th again |

"Under" rated?
I think he's OVER rated
Yes, good skater & passer
But he doesn't play defense well enough at his Cap hit
His best skill (PP specialist) is not needed by us
and wasted bc he'd be on PP2 (not taking Jack's spot)
So his offensive numbers would go down with us to the point where it wouldn't even be close enough to justify the Cap hit |

I'll post one in a few to show how we can keep Jack, Sam & Kane
Our Cap isn't as bad as ppl think |

Ok... just possibilities here
The Cap seems to go up 3mil each year, so that's what I went with
https://www.capfriendly.c...m/armchair-gm/team/350482
1) defensemen don't have to be Brodin & Manson, those are just guys I like that could be moved... (sub in whoever though)
I think what we give back is very reasonable
There's also more draft picks, plus guys like Carrier & Rodrigues who aren't in my lineup for the 18-19 season which could be added to a trade if we really need to add more to make the deals work
2) I signed Neal bc we have the Cap space, even with signing Kane as well
Guys like Nash & VanRiemsdyk are also UFA though
And even if we didn't sign another forward...
take out Neal & I still think our forwards look good
This was mainly done to show how we can EASILY afford to sign Kane,
and bring in TWO defensemen for the top4
IF we can't move Moulson & Ennis...
that's even fine
Just ditch Neal & re-add them
It'll fit
And that's with 16 forwards & 9 defensemen counting towards the Cap
Knock it down to 13 & 7 and it gives us about 4mil more in room
We could even buy out Moulson to give us more room
After 18-19...
Moulson is gone & Ennis has only 1 year left
Our Cap situation is not bad at all |

I'm cool with it
Especially with Nylander coming up the following season
At first glance, I wanted to say we can't protect the defensemen I traded for,
but we can do 4-4-1
Big thing is, I don't think Calgary makes that trade
But even if they don't...
bring in Brodin & Manson (McCabe still here too) and the defense is set
And I believe we are in the playoffs
That also still leaves us Bailey, Fasching & #8 overall
I sill like it, even without the Calgary trade! |

I can't believe you spent all day talking about Seabrook
Might as well drop stuff in the toilet or eat a bunch of recipes that use vegetables instead of meat. |
