The system needs to be reviewed. Flyers bar;y missed the playoffs and get the second overall? The whole point of a draft order is so basement teams have a shot at improving right? Put bottom 8 in lottery then rest pick by finishing order

I agree with Dukey to build through the draft.

But I disagree that this team is in shambles. Risto is a main cog on d, as is McCabe; perhaps not in the top pairing, at least the top 4. Either Guhle or Antipin will be a significant upgrade to their past defensemen. (What if they both pan out?) But just by adding one, you hide the deficiencies of the rest of the defense, and you take some of the pressure away from Risto and McCabe, who were overplayed.

More important than the first point, the coaching system was horrible. Regardless of the system, the coach lost the team. A new coach will rejuvenate this team.

I think playoffs are closer than you think. Boston and Ottawa did not have an impressive roster, but they made the playoffs. A coach that can rally the troops will lead Buffalo to the playoffs. Bank it!
