He gets disrespected pretty well in here. - TTtime
88 aside, is there anyone that HASN'T been criticized this season at some point??
A step up from the youth and depth next season, and we're right back in the thick of things as contenders. |

Darling signed like 4 days after his rights were traded. - Psenerch
Yes other than signing on the plane to Carolina after the trade that's how fast he signed. Where did this even come from? |

You can spend all of the time you want looking at all of his numbers, all you really need to know is that he spent most of the last 2 seasons playing babysitter partner to every other defenceman other than his true partner Duncan Keith.
Weber got traded; Subban got traded; Shattenkirk got dumped and is now looking for a home where he can be grossly overpaid; and that complete stiff Keith Yandle squeezed big money out of Florida.
So, I'd say Seabrook still has value at his salary. That is unless you'd prefer the Leafs to give the great Shattenkirk top dollar or grab Dan Girardi off the Rangers scrap heap.
No matter who they decide on, the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to have to get help on their backend or they will be life and death to make the playoffs next season. Tampa will be better, so will Boston, Carolina and Ottawa. And even Buffalo. And Lamoriello and Babcock know that in spades.
And to be honest about it, all of this talk about Seabrook may be a smokescreen anyway. Who knows, maybe the team has asked him, Hossa, Crawford and others to waive their NMCs just so they can protect other young players in the expansion draft. Vegas would never claim Hoss or Seabrook's contract unless they intended to flip the player elsewhere. - RickJ
You should keep Brent. He's amazeballs. |

What day did you sit down with Lou Lamoriello to be made aware of the Leafs lack of interest in Seabrook?
Better be careful because if Uncle Lou finds out that you advised Hockeybuzz that the team has no interest in #7, he will remove you quickly from his list of privileged insiders who he always shares delicate info with. - RickJ
Yeah. We told John last year we ain't trading for Sharp. Didn't make sense. Did he listen? Did he (frank). Usual 2 and 2 together to make 5.

Don't worry about it. You guys like him and his contract. We don't. It's not the end of the world. You'll enjoy him for another 5 years so and laugh at the opposing fans. - walshyleafsfan
I know I will, Seebs is still a beast . I would hate to lose him ,and to Vancouver would be a insult . They are the absolute worst fan base in all of sport ,just a bunch of spoiled rich kids, seen it 1st hand . |

Sun Times' Laz is hearing Hammer and Hoss's names come up.
EDIT - Laz tweet at 8:15 pm
I have no concrete info yet, but Niklas Hjalmarsson's name has popped up a few times among people I've talked with. Marian Hossa, too. - Marlowe
Just my opinion. The Hammer thing is pure conjecture. I know (for fact, cuz I talked to a couple of them) there are some in the Chicago media SPECULATING that Zawaski's rumor Friday night was about Hjalmarsson. I don't think it was. I think it was Seabrook.
i have not heard Hjalmarsson's name, and the way things are going and who I'm talking to, I would probably have heard his name if the Hawks were shopping him.
I can't comment on Hossa as I heard those rumors (from another blogger as well), but I have not heard his name from my sources either. Again, I doubt it.
I also heard something about Crawford yesterday from someone who spoke with a source with another team. I checked on it and I don't think it was valid.
The names I have heard: Kruger, Anisimov, Seabrook. |

Yeah, you're right. It was you against me. You speak for Toronto's front office, I just make stuff up.
And when a trade doesn't happen, that means it was never discussed (because you thought it was a bad idea).
The earth is flat.
Etc.
Believe what you want. LOL |

Thanks JJ for sharing your thoughts and what you're hearing. This isn't the hard part - the news vacuum! Lots of early swirl of Hawks news this year, which is a good thing. We've seen that good things often don't come to Hawks that wait. Gotta create some room to maneuver.
BTW been on season ticket holder list for years. Was told in April at start of playoffs that there likely would not be any tickets for years - as long as Toews and Kane era. Just got notice that there is availability - SRO, but still seems 2 early exits are hitting where it hurts. |

I love Hjammer but, if we're bringing in coach Ulf, someone like Manson is perhaps a better fit as I don't think he's big on coaching the stick check. I could be wrong.
Also too, I'm thinking the Hocks brass is kinda pi$$ed at the league as I was thinking that the game was getting more euro and the cap would increase more better but if goonery and mighty duckery is the recipe for success then Ulf Ulf baby.

yes seabs has been chained with newbies and never willbies
yes his production slipped last year
but please tell me where the hawks get a dman with his size
tell me how they replace the only blue line guy who can get a shot on net
tell me how they replace a huge positive locker room guy like him
tell me how they replace their best dman passer
oh and if they just get picks and prospects...tell me how they are better come sept... - bogiedoc
But we just signed Ruuta... |
