Been away for awhile, was pretty busy with other things and didn't have much to contribute to the board during the cup finals but now that, that's over with...
What's the general pulse on this board on who they think the coach is going to be?
I'm sure most if not everyone wants Housley but do most people like myself expect it to be Tocchet? - bluengold12

Friedman says he thinks CBJ & VGK have a deal where David Clarkson lands in Vegas, along with a 1st + prospect (960). |

My thoughts were, that's a baaaddd contract. So I wonder if we could get them to take Bogo for a 2nd
edit: it also saves them from losing Murray/Savard/Johnson too, so I think that's a good deal for CBJ to be honest |

vegas has literally all the cap space so to get an extra 1st out of that will help them with their build.
Effectively ends any shot at them taking a guy like bogo though cause they dont need to fill their team with those contracts.
I imagine they may take one more bad one from a playoff team and maybe get their first as well. |

No way! I'd easily give up a 2nd round pick to get rid of BADgosian |

Pick number 24 and it would depend on the prospect. As others are saying, Clarkson $5.25 cap hit for 3 years (still owed a total of $15m in actual salary) for a 1st round pick? And that guy wont even play for them at all.
That is a bad deal for Vegas, they should want to steal another of their players. The prospect better be pretty good.
So as others are saying, our 2nd and Moulson might be an over payment. How about our 2nd, Moulson and Bogosian? |

I would offer Vegas Moulson/Bogo + Carrier + 3rd or 4th for future considerations
Edit to clarify: one or the other |

We need to keep those picks and hit on them more often than not if we're gonna build something. I don't think he's bad enough to pay that kind of price to get rid of him. |

They got a 1st and a prospect for a player they will be able to put on LTIR for the next 3 years. The only time he will count against the cap is in the off-season. I don't see how this is a bad move for Vegas. |

I think he's bad enough. He's 5.1 million wasted cap space for three more years and a waste of roster space. He's nothing more than a 5th defenceman on a playoff team and at his cap space that's too much for that role. He's got the worst hockey sense I've seen from a Sabre in the last couple of years. We can get picks by trading guys like Girgensons or Foligno but we need to dump BADgosian and hopefully buy out Moulson |

They have to pay the guy $15 million also. For a team that just spent tons of money that is a huge deal to me. |

I'm with you on moulson.
Like you said though, Bogo is still an NHL player. I don't believe Moulson would get another NHL job if his contract was up |

In all seriousness though this is probably the best way for them to build a solid prospect pool |

I think if you offered an extra first and a prospect to Terry every 3 years for 15 million he would take that offer. |

I agree, I'm jealous. I think the sabres could have afforded to do this with Clarkson going on LTIR. In the off-season they area plowed to go 5% over the cap(I believe). |

You're right, its not my money, but that is not a "no brainer" for every owner in the league. |

My point is most teams/owners would do this of they could, money is not relevant when it isn't hitting the cap. |

but it is for vegas. They aren't a cap strapped team. even post expansion draft and probably for the next 2 years minimum they will be a floor team and probably spend among the fewest of the nhl teams. They basically spent a bit up front to speed up youth development.
The early years are critical for an expansion team so anything they can do to add young talent is worth doing. |
