First!
Good breakdown of the Sabres expansion list.
Hoping it's Moulson or Ennis that is taken. Both have big cap numbers and would greatly help us out in the long run if one of these 2 are taken. |

Good list Pach. Hard to argue with your assessment. Expose as much salary as possible. However, I do see Vegas taking Lehner if exposed. Methinks that there will be lots of wheeling and dealing going on before the expansion draft and solid goalie options like MAF, Howard and Grubnauer will all be traded to teams that are looking for a goalie now (Calgary, Phi etc) - vs being exposed to Vegas in the draft.
If that's the case, hopefully Ulmark and a strong vet can plug the net. I just hope that Ulmark has that lunging thing under control now. |

Maybe is a dumb question:
If Ullmark is protected can we trade Lehner prior to the draft or does he have to be left exposed because of the expansion rules (I'm thinking about total salary).

For the people who always defended and praised Tim Murray... I sort of already knew this, but now that it's getting closer to the expansion draft, it's been on my mind more lately, and we are actually going to protect Kevin Falk. Kevin freaking Falk!!! It actually makes me mad. TM left us in such a mess it's almost a like he did it on purpose. (Don't worry, I don't really think that). But holy ****!
Idk, I'm so aggravated and annoyed with this I'll just stop writing, cuz this might turn into a "tear TM to shreds" post, and I don't wanna do that. Kevin Falk though. Ughhhh
Come on, really? He had 3 years to turn this organization around, and all he was so short sided, that he didn't realize how the league's was evolving? And had no clue that you need to have a solid defense that is mobile, and smart? So trade your best puck mover (Pysyk) for a bum who's was known for his physical play, like it's 1998? Wow! Okay I'm done. |

i dont think its about salary, you have to expose one goalie who is under contract or an RFA next year. |

and the plot moistens....

The Sabres have signed goaltender Linus Ullmark to a two-year contract extension with an annual average value (AAV) of $750,000.
The rest of you are l8 and fired - Sabresfan-365
So they expose Ullmark since he is under contract and protect Lehner until they figure out his contract or trade him...
Vegas is not going to be taking Ullmark, there are too many goalies out there |

ullmark was already an rfa, they didnt need to sign him to expose him |

Him and Lehner were both RFA's this year so it really doesn't matter that he was signed.
I still think going into next season it will be
Lehner
Ullmark |

Ullmark does not have to clear waivers
All the other goalies out there will
That is why i feel vegas will take Ullmark if he is exposed

Stripes - you may be wrong. If it comes down to LV taking Ullmark or an overpriced fading player (Moulsen/Ennis/Gorges/Bogosian), they may take Ullmark.
Granted, we have no clue what JBots thinks of Lehner, he may be exposing Lehner or trading him to Calgary?? If JBots wants to keep both, maybe he throws LV a 2nd round pick for them to take McPhee's Godchilds' husband?? |

Whether you agree with what Murray did or you don't, it doesn't change the fact that this team was one of the worst in the history of the NHL that was devoid of any talent whatsoever, and to think we would be anything but average 2 years later is probably a bit unrealistic.
Edit: For some reason it didn't include the quotes from above about how bad Murray was. |

its also possible this was the side deal murray and mcphee worked out. here's asset(s) dont take ullmark. The timing is a little suspect cause they didnt have to sign either of them for expansion purposes. |

Unfortunately it was Murray who had the unrealistic expectations |

It is my belief that JUSTIN FALK was resigned to meet the criteria of having to expose a defenseman who played at least 40 games last year or 70 for the past 2 seasons, I think Murray was planning on freezing Bogo, knowing that Vegas woudn't take JUSTIN FALK |

If Buffalo was one of the worst teams in the history of the NHL, devoid of any talent what so ever, then you haven't been following hockey very long and what the frank was Colorado's excuse last year? |

I don't get this Ullmark deal. Why would he take 200k less than he made last year? Doesn't make sense. |

Im still in for Ullmark and Petersen if he gets signed as the one/two.
Trade Lehner for a D-prospect. |

Google "Kevin Falk".
Not sure he's not already exposed. Doubt he cares about protection...anyone? anyone? is this thing on? |

Consensus is that Petersen needs at least one if not two years in the minors. Would you still be in if you knew that you were rushing him and that he wasn't ready for that level of play by a significant margin? |
