Two trade proposals I would consider:
Kane for one of Dallas's goalies and Honka. Maybe Buffalo adds a low pick or prospect. Then either see what you could get for Lehner or resign him and put whichever goalie you got from Dallas in Rochester. Each one only has a year left so not a big deal.
Kane, Nelson and Minny's 2nd for Dumba and Pommers. Not that I am for bringing Pommers back, but they want to shed his salary. |

Reinhart drafted to play center but not good enough going into his third year. Setting the league on fire with 8 5v5 goals in his 2nd year. played center and was given the keys to drive the car when Eichel was out and he showed next to nothing when the Sabres were scoring 1.something goals a game. If he didn't wear the Sabres crest would there be this blind devotion? - GilPerreault11
I think 4 more years into RORs contract, you'll see him on Eichels wing, and Sam at #2c |

How would we feel about:
Sam Reinhart
2017 1st rounder
to Minnesota for
Jonas Brodin or Matt Dumba
Nino Niederreiter
Too crazy? - MCGUIZZY
Wow that's a lot to give up. |

No...
just depends how u wanna set up the team
I'm a big proponent of having 3 scoring lines
So for me, I want Sam as the 3C
But if u wanna have line 3 be a "checking" line,
Then that type of trade can put Nino on Jacks wing & strengthen the top6
I'd prefer to just move #8 for a defenseman,
But that's my preference |

Only problem is that Minny has issues protecting all their forwards as well, so they probably need someone back they don't have to protect instead of Kane |

My rebuttal would be that it's way easier to find a competent 3C, than it is to find a top 2/3 D man.

Maybe the deal is they will take Moulson if we give them Ennis.
Wow, that could be cool. Heck, I would even give you our 3rd rounder if you do this! (how generous of me, lol) |

Yea for sure. I think they are going to get a decent return for either Brodin or Dumba. Personally i like Nino better than Sam for the Sabres. I think this trade solves the defense issue and replaces a top 6 hole. This trade would make us a better team next season and beyond. So I would do it |

BUFFALO’S LINEUP
Subtracting Kane shows how much the Sabres need their young wingers to blossom. With the L.A. deal made, here’s our depth chart heading into the expansion draft:
*Center – Eichel, O’Reilly, Larsson, Rodrigues, Sean Malone.
That’s fine.
*Left wing – Brodzinski, Tyler Ennis, Marcus Foligno, William Carrier, Justin Bailey, Alex Nylander, C.J. Smith, Nicolas Deslauriers.
Kane or no Kane, that left wing lineup is depressing. |

ya...cray cray.
Minni is bent over a barrel expansion wise. They can't protect these guys. You can get one of them without using Reino or a 1st. |

I absolutely hate this argument.
All it tells me is that Buffalo isn't the only one that needs to upgrade, but we're not talking about those teams, nor should we. |

But every team has a competent 3C
Us being even there doesn't give us any advantage
Trade #8 for a defenseman
Trade 2018 1st & take back a contract (Pominville?) for another defenseman
Boom
Defense fixed
Forward depth intact |

If this gets you one, I am game. But what I imagine is a 1 for 1 scenario with a team like Carolina for Faulk or Hanifin. We might have to add a piece with Sam.
Me personally, I think Reinhart is decent, but totally replaceable. |

Maybe..But I think there will be competition. And this trade is more that just acquiring Brodin/Dumba. Its swapping Reinhart for Nino. Who I think is a better fit for this team. |

That's only bc u feel Sam has reached his ceiling
To most of us, that's crazy bc he's still so young
Electrifying does not equate to good
Yeah, we know Sam doesn't skate like Max did

It reminds me of the Pen's with Staal. That trade with the Cane's got them Brandon Sutter, Dumoulin and the #8 overall. |

Even if he hasn't (which I think he has come close to, but not his full ceiling) he's never supplanting ROR or Eichel on the depth chart
and again, I'll trade a 3rd line center or 50 point winger for a 2/3 D man all day every day |

Are they? If they pick the second protection option, rather than the formatted 5 forward, 3d, 1 goalie, they can protect all their good players.
There are very few forwards on that team that really, really good
Edit: That Parise contract is still ridiculous |
