First
Me > Bob McKenzie's NHL scout friends
Habs won the trade, but Yzerman freed up a protection slot and some $$$ so it made sense for both sides. |

Wish we had enough assets or good enough players to be pulling off trades like this |

Montreal definitely got good value for Sergachev, full commitment to winning now. Only bit I'm confused about is that they're running the risk of really cripppling their D considering it already needs improvement. |

Would you have done Juolevi and a 2nd for Drouin and a 6th? |

Laying it on the line. (In an ideal world).
5. Pettersson.
33. Timmins.
55. Boqvist.
64. Salo.
95. Best remaining Goalie.

So I just read more to that deal. If Sergachev plays 40 games for TBL next year, no picks are exchanged. If he plays under 40 games. TBL does NOT send their 6th round pick to MTL. In Other words, Sergachev and a 2nd for Drouin if Sergachev plays under 40 games. Thanks to YuenYingJagr in the TB thread. |

1)Drouin is a elite player.
2)He's French, which always comes into play in Montreal.
3)This frees them up to move Galchenyuk or gives them a better winger to pair him with.
You're not wrong though, they have issues on D. Another move or free agent signing I'd suspect.

Why? The franchise isn't in the same position as Montreal. Build from the draft and become good first. |

With Juulson about to crack thru and due to the surprised development of Mete, I think they have/had the confidence to trade Sergachev. |

Juolevi for Drouin wouldn't have worked? If Jim wanted Drouin, I feel like he could have made something happen... |

If it was Juolevi and 55, I'd do it. Drouin is the real deal and only 22. |
