Gudbranson will have played in his 7th season coming up. He will have completed 7 seasons in the league which makes any and all players on expiring contracts a UFA, as per CBA. Who gives a poop what an Internet website says, the CBA supercedes that information.

Mittelstadt unless NJD takes Heiskanen then its maybe Patrick.
Then with 5OA its either Glass or Makar maybe.

- Nighthawk

Yeah that's fine. There will be some screams by others. I am now higher on Glass over Mittle plus believe he's closer. But it's fine if JB sees different.

My original question to you started why not Nichushkin? As in what better prospect with their pick can Stars throw in for JB? This is with the notion that JB can play hard ball for that pick he needs less then Stars need the win now Tanev. Plus prospect compensation for JB is further justified in taking the salary cap dump from Stars too.

Yup...completion of his seventh year in the league and an expiring contract makes him a UFA I do believe.

"An unrestricted free agent is defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement as a player that has seven accrued seasons or is 27 years or older by June 30th of the end of an NHL season. These players are UNRESTRICTED free agents and have absolutely 0 restrictions on their negotiating ability."

I wasn't going to quote the actual contract as it gets frustrating on here at times when some posters talk about players like Boeser only playing 12 games as it gets him closer to his UFA years. So you would think they know the rules. Mind you some just like to argue and or place blame on someone or something.

I stand corrected. EG is a UFA after this contract.
10 games in an NHL season constitutes 1yr.
He has had 2 shortened seasons with both counting as a year towards an UFA.

He shouldn't need anyone if he was good. He is what he is.
- LeftCoaster

I agree and the 20 games he played definitely determined his peak abilities as a bust and really solidified his value

Boeser played 9 games & 10 constitutes 1 year towards being an UFA.

I wasn't doubting him just showing the source that stated otherwise. Apparently they got it wrong leading to the confusion

he's played 339 NHL games (over six seasons) and he hasn't gotten much better, but nice try.

At 25 yrs old for a D its nothing to rush on about.
Most of his career was on a sad Fla team.

That was my point, research was already done and the UFA years would have been determined as completing 7.seasons.

Wasn't directing the arguing or blaming part at you. You always own up when you are mistaken.

I'm sorry I've seen enough of him to know (IMO) he's not going to get much better. For a big guy he had three or four minor penalties in 30 games, he's not overly physical and he provides next to nothing for offence. That's not going to change no matter how much you guys want it to.

But he can fight

I have another question to something that has been posted quite a few times.

When and who decided that Dallas is in a win now situation, they don't have the team to win now, and win now Tanev is not going to make the difference. He will help shore up the defensive side of Dallas, but they are lacking a few more pieces than Tanev.

I like the idea of making a trade with Tanev for the 3rdOA, but where is this notion that Dallas requires this to win now.

Actually that's not true, the 10 games burns a year of their entry level deal but it's the 40 game threshold that counts as a year towards ufa status.

It's a fair question. two years ago they were a dominant team, last year clearly not. I think Bishop gives the ma shot if they put another decent d-man in front of him. They have a team that if healthy can score against anyone. They have a pretty solid mix of young talent and vets. I agree they are a fair ways from a favorite though, then again so are the habs and they are worse team in win-now mode.

Not sure if I agree with you here Lefty. I think part of WD system stymied some of our physical players. After JV hit Polak a split second too late, he never got out of the doghouse afterwards, Dorsett seemed to let up on many occasions and so did our Swedish enforcer Edler.
I would like to see him play at least half a season under Green before I make that judgment.
I also recall EG talk early in season about trying to learn the new system, that was confusing and cumbersome.(paraphrasing)

They can make more moves, obviously, and their best players are in their prime.....I guess would be the argument? Two years ago they won 50 games, I'd suggest they're a good team if they can get a much better defence and Spezza can continue to produce at center with Seguin.

Tanev and Miller though, for Niemi and 3ov, playoffs

Maybe throw in granlund for the rights to nishuskins (sp)

Then they'd be entering a time period of 4 to 5 years when they should be top 6 in the west.
Exit: with Seguin and Ben up front

You may be right with your opinion, I just seen a different player than what I seen from his Florida days. I must have watched at least 50 Florida games while he was there and he played nothing like he did in the 30 games we seen of him here.
