my very loose counter to that would be it seems like he is more likely to succeed in an uptempo style than one that would require him to be some sort of stalwart. But i dont watch the guy enough
- Sabresfan-365

Nate Schmidt is being left available.

I'm predicting we make a move for him

GMJB saw a lot of him lately

You can't expose a UFA. Copley is a UFA.

iii) One goaltender who is under contract in 2017-18 or will be a restricted free agent at the expiration of his current contract immediately prior to 2017-18. If the club elects to make a restricted free agent goaltender available in order to meet this requirement, that goaltender must have received his qualifying offer prior to the submission of the club's protected list.

Copley is neither under contract nor a qualified RFA.

I haven't seen anything that says Vegas can sign an RFA negating their pick, only UFAs negating their pick. If you can show me they can sign RFAs who aren't protected then fine, but I haven't seen that.

- Wetbandit1

My bad on Copley...
either they have another goalie who meets the requirements,
or Grubauer does

I appreciate your diligence...
but you're getting way too into the details of this stuff

It's widely known that Grubauer is available to be chosen
It says so in EVERY single article I've read on the expansion draft & who Vegas might take

rumourbreak is not, plus sabres twitter would be all over this sorta thing if it was even remotely legit (like our once a year p kane rumour)
- Sabresfan-365

I consider almost all the chatter non-legitimate

Sabres need defense,
so it certainly seems possible that we could be interested

Hawks have big time Cap trouble,
So it also seems reasonable that we (and other teams) have called about Kane

It's because the actual details aren't available or are buried. And the ones put out by the NHL have gaping holes in them the size of... I'll let your imagination run wild with that one.

Grubauer was indeed qualified yesterday. I was trying to search for a list, but then just typed him in specifically.

I just don't know why they'd give him up so easily.

I think they're hoping to lose him instead of Schmidt
And didn't they draft a goalie pretty high a few years ago?
The Russian kid I believe

Since Holtby is their guy,
I guess backup goalie is better to lose than good young defenseman

Vanecek - His AHL numbers are nothing to write home about. But he's still young I guess.

All it takes is for Holbty to fall awkwardly and that's all she wrote for his season and they're left with a 21 year old who isn't very good in the AHL. Not ideal. You need to have 2 goalies that can play.

Not him... Samsonov
I think he's still in the KHL though

But they can obviously sign a backup if he isn't ready to come over yet

Good article. Housley was ahead of his time when he played and I believe will be at the cutting edge of the modern NHL. I agreed with most of what you said except the part about Kane. You said about Kane his ..."on-ice work-ethic is impeccable". Ah yeah if by impeccably lazy and selfish. And I suspect if he is selfish on the ice he is also in the locker room and we already know about how he is off ice. Also Paul Hamilton wasn't even around when Housley was drafted so don't make it sound like he is some sort of hockey guru. Just because he asks players questions and such doesn't mean he knows squat about hockey. He can't even skate.

Rumorbreak gets things right all the time (before announcement).

He is saying we are going hard after Barrie. Plan B is Vatenen or Brodin.

Time will tell, but not all rumors come true, so who knows. Just fun to think about.

It's a fake account, when has he gotten things right? He either piggybacks off other insiders or makes up random stuff
