Honestly though if Anaheim doesn't have a deal in place and loses one of Vatanen or Manson while protecting Vermette and Bieksa, Bob Murray needs to be fired immediately

they have tones of space. Capfriendly says only 26 contracts next season
RFAs resignings are Zadorov, Andrighetto, Grimaldi, Nieto, and Grigorenko if around

Also Dallas protecting Roussell over Eakin is a big head scratcher

Reilly Smith and Marchessault exposed as well

In order, I think they take:

Young players that are NHL ready (Dumba)
Young players they think will develop into roster players for them (Siemens)
Vets they can trade right away (Methot)
Vets they can move at the deadline (Stempniak)

Maybe they will be easier to acquire from Vegas than their current teams.

They are going to have 2 or 3 1st rounders the next couple years is my guess.

Here's why I think they protected Ennis

Ennis, has scored 20g in the NHL 3 times
Carrier does not have that potential

Can Ennis get back to that?
Maybe not

But I guess they figure Ennis bouncing back has better odds than Carrier developing into a scorer at this level
