I dont think i've ever heard a reoprt on a QO. Regardless Ullmarks not going anywhere anytime soon - Steele004
I hope you are right, but QO's are reported on every year. Here's the report from last year: http://buffalonews.com/20...uding-girgensons-foligno/. They're a necessary step in keeping an RFA's negotiating rights. If a team doesn't extend a QO by the deadline, the player becomes a UFA. So every year we get a list of QOs that teams extend.
That being said, it is possible QOs have been extended and the information hasn't been made public yet because the deadline hasn't come. But you'd think news would get out when extending a QO has such an impact on the expansion draft.
Anyway, the deadline to extend QO's this offseason is 6/25, which is after protection list submission and after LV makes its picks. So if we see Ullmark on the protection list, that means the Sabres extended or will extend a QO to Lehner before the expansion draft. Otherwise, they won't be exposing a goalie as required. |

I'm sorry but that is a waste. Literally giving up a 1st round pick....seriously?? - feetontheair22
Conditional 2018 1st. If we win the Cup they get the pick, if we don't they get bupkis. |

Foley paid 500 mill of his own money, did you actually think he was going to get teams crap players, he's wasn't going to get other teams 3rd and 4th line players to play on the 1st and 2nd lines. This is completely different then other expansion years. Nobody is holding a gun to teams heads, you want to keep your " good " players, then you gotta give up to protect them, plain and simple. But it's ok when people want Vegas to take other teams crap and contracts and players? that's ok ?
Botterill will do just fine, just like he did today. - SABRES 89
So teams are offering picks (or whatever)so that Vegas doesn't take their good players... I get that
But that doesn't mean that Vegas will end up with lesser talent
I'm presuming that Vegas made deals with these teams so that they wouldn't lose their guys like Vatanen, Brodin, etc
So F#CK Vegas for screwing up our chance to poach a good defenseman or 2
It's that plain & simple for me |

Grubauer's QO was reported on right away. |

He's not good, though.
Still, wouldn't give up the first just to get rid of him. |

If you take say, Anaheim and vatanen are gms offering better than say a first rounder? If I'm the ducks I'd much rather lose picks and lower end guys, then someone like vatanen. I get what your saying, but I'm assuming teams in a bind offered a lot to vegas via picks so they could keep their established guys.
But I agree F vegas - Sabres1523
I hear ya
I guess I'm just surprised that Vegas would rather have say a 1st rounder than a guy like Vatanen
They must have made a bunch of deal
Very surprising to me |

What?
They're the only reason today was a thing at all. This makes no sense. If there was no expansion there would be no deadline. And no reason to move anyone until the draft and players that are in Evander's situation start to get traded. - Wetbandit1
Today could've been epic
Instead... it sucked
Presumably bc Vegas made deals with a bunch of teams
So F#CK them
McPhee is a pice of sh!t for this
I hate his guts
(Yes, I know I'm overreacting... this day just had the potential to be so much fun... and it was super lame... and we didn't really improve the defense at all)

(I think I may have just accidentally flagged your post. It's what I get for doing this on my phone in an airport)
Would it be such a terrible thing to have Guhle start out the season in Rochester? Maybe give Housley some time to straighten out Risto/McCabe/Beaulieu and let Guhle get top pair minutes in Rochester. Probably wouldn't be the worst thing for him. - HonkFortheGoose
It doesn't matter, there are no mods here anyway.
It's a smart move. Let Guhle, you know, actually develop, there's no need to rush him in. Play in Rochester and be the injury replacement here. And if he plays well, keep him up. |

But again, the only reason today had any potential at all is because of Vegas in the first place. No Vegas, no today's (non)drama. |

Look... I get it
If I was McPhee & other GMs, I'd have done the same thing
But I'm still p!ssed we didn't improve the defense today
How could anyone be anything but disappointed
EVERY NHL expert said there was gonna be TONS of movement,
and there was barely any
How is that anything but lame?
F#ck McPhee
And fine... F#ck the NHL too
If the NHL really wanted Vegas to be good right away,
they wouldn't have let teams make deals to keep their good players
And yeah, I know I'm overreacting
But this does suck
No denying that sir |
