But again, the only reason today had any potential at all is because of Vegas in the first place. No Vegas, no today's (non)drama.

Of course it COULD have been, but we've seen time and time again that NHL GMs don't go crazy with moves.

It's once again a failure of unrealistic expectations. Teams really, really don't want to lose top 4 defensemen as seen in the Hall trade. Those deals weren't out there today, and nor should they be, because that was a stupid move by Edmonton.
