Exactly.
You know my stance. Send Ennis/Bogo/Gorges/Moulson Away. Far Away!!! - mattsox
I'm sure the Oilers have better deals on the table, but you never know. |

Sounds like they're potentially taking $9mil in salary from the Isles for a 1st + ? It sounds more and more like salary dumps are going for 1sts - jcragcrumple
For the Isles, Garth Snow is up against it, this will be his last year (if that) depending on performance. If he fails to sign Tavares (or it seems like he is going to FA), he is fired immediately. So it makes sense for them due to the GM being up against the wall.
I feel like Botterill will be making more "savvy" moves this summer and might let his bad contracts just play out. I do think just playing a faster game will work for us. Getting 1 more dman to move the puck up ice will make the team look totally different. Getting "no pass" Gorges out of there will do wonders too (as well as Franson and Kulikov). I don't see Botterill as a guy to pay to remove a contact. Did they ever really do that in Pittsburgh? They seemed to always sell at the right time to not have to move a bad contact. |

Offer Bogo + to the Oilers and see if anything comes out of it. - SABRES 89
Bogo and Ennis (plus something idk) for G. Reinhart and Eberle (+ cap dump probably, or maybe not) |

So I feel like the Oilers would be interested if we held some of that salary, but they are $20 mil below cap now, but once Draisaitl signs (what do we say, at least $6mil right? I tend to think almost $7mil) and then McDavid next year (what, $9.7 mil per?) they will be in cap trouble, quick. If they can offload Eberle then maybe they would do it.
So how about
Eberle
for
Bogo and our 2nd this year?
I am not sure I do that, just asking. What about Griffin Rinehart? Are we interested in him at all, being an RFA that could not crack their at all last season (but 29 games the year before)? I say no, just asking. |

I think you just hit the nail on the head. Don't expect to see Botterill doing any of the things the more "aggressive" GMs do. Doesn't seem to be his style and he's for sure a numbers guy, so I would expect our cap situation to stabilize and end up being pretty steady year over year once he stabilizes it. |

Beat me to it. Dang!
I am not sure I am interested in that, but maybe Griffin being with his Brother could help both? And I am not sold on Eberle come playoff time, but I guess getting to the playoffs is half the battle! |

Them moving Eberle for Bogo doesn't really help them from a cap standpoint. It would be less than $1M per year savings AND Bogo is signed for 1 more year than Eberle. Not to mention Eberle at least generally produces/is worth what he's getting paid and Bogo isn't. |

If JT stays, he is a masochist. More arena drama, ownership drama, GM drama and he hasn't has a sniff of an elite - or even very good - winger. If i were JT i would start packing my bags now for the first team to offer him 9 Mil (Wild?)
I still think Ennis can be a useful player for us, or at least up his trade value this year. Selling now would be a mistake IMO
I see Gorges as our 7 D, which is fine to me. Let him play out his contract. Bogo's contract will be moveable once there's movement in the cap, but there's no progress on that front. That leaves Moulson, Dlo, Girgs, Gionta as the targets to move on from this year. The secondary crop would be Foligno, Larsson and Ennis. Out of those 7, i'd like 3 gone to shake up the bottom 6 |

Agree. Especially due to not being in a corner (being a new GM). He seemed to help the Pens find complementary players, which is what we were looking for, right? Might make one big splash (for a star player to compliment Eichel) and then find complementary players to stabilize them. |

I'm not sure if they have a short term (1 year) cap dump, or if they even need it yet. They would probably be fine the first year with those two salaries, but like you said paying McJesus and the German is going to eat quite a bit of space. |

I am not doing it for them to save on cap. They need better D. (is Bogo even that? lol) and want to move Eberle. My point was they need to move cap if they are taking on.
So nothing like Bogo for G Rinehart . Where they are straight taking on salary. |

I agree with this. He actually looked more like the pre-injury Ennis at the end of the year. I'm hoping he can carry that into this year.

Im not sure what their motivation is to move Eberle, but if its to get rid of his salary then that deal wont be attractive to them. Bogo and Ennis would be a ton of salary to take on for trash players (even tho I like Ennis).
Maybe Girgensons , Ennis +
But if its D they are looking for They prob ask for Mccabe I would think |

In general, if they're going to move Eberle though, it's for cap relief and has to be an upgrade elsewhere. Otherwise there's no point in moving him.
Most likely they'd like to find another guy for their defense that's still on the upswing and fairly cheap. That way they gain space under the cap and improve another area. If they can't find that, they should just keep Eberle for now. |

I want to hope you are right, my issue is he seems to play better with nothing on the line (the season was over at that point, could do no "wrong") then when we want to win. |

Our defense can't afford to move McCabe. And I would think that Housley would be a bit annoyed if they did that since McCabe is someone he has familiarity with. |

The coach has to let him play and not bog him down in technical systems. He's always going to infuriate a certain section of fans because he's a like like Afinogenov. He has to be allowed to free wheel to be successful |

He's had such a rough couple of years it has to have taken it's toll on him mentally. They need to just let him go out and play his game and find some confidence. It's amazing how much of a difference there is in a player that feels confident and comfortable out there. |

I agree. Just speculating what they would prob ask for in return. Personally I would move Mccabe if the right deal came around. I know we are in rough shape on D but hes a guy I consider replaceable. Nice player though. But yea Im afraid they would ask for him or even worse, Guhle |

The same can be said for Girgensons. I get that there needs to be some sort of system in place, but it should be one that compliments the players. It seems that whatever Bylsma had going on out there was the complete opposite of what it should have been for the group of guys we have. |
