Lets say we can dump Moulson, we do not get players in return or maybe a D if we package it correctly, what do we do with our current players lines?
LW C RW
Evander Kane Ryan O'Reilly Kyle Okposo
Marcus Foligno Tyler Ennis Justin Bailey
Johan Larsson Jack Eichel Evan Rodrigues
Alexander Nylander Sam Reinhart Nicholas Baptiste - lulags
You've got a lot of guys out of position here
Ennis hasn't played center in years, has done both Wings
Reinhart has been a RW for the most part, although I'd love if he was back at Center
Larsson is a center
Rodrigues got switched to center last year, but plays wing also
Nylander played RW last year
Bailey was switched to LW
U left off Girgensons, C/W
Also left off Carrier, LW

Good point. Housley seems like a development guy, so maybe it happens. I think with the current guys we have, it would make sense to bring in a bottom six vet or 2. I still see either Girgs or Larsson gone by camp |

So seems like Vegas is trying their best to get top notch (1st or early second) round picks from teams as part of this expansion draft. In reality, if you have a player you have spent years on (development) and seems to be a NHL player, I would give up my second round pick in a second. It's the first rounder that is hard to give up. Now like Columbus to give up a 1st (24th overall) to take Clarkson and that be the player they "lose" is not that much due to shedding that salary.
I hope the Sabres give up a deal like this:
Sabres get
Dumba (I think he is better than the rest available)
Vegas gets
1st round (8th)
Moulson / Bogosian
(and might have to include a Carrier too)
Vegas wants to build through the draft, well I am willing to help with this deal. Sure a D man at 8th overall could be "better" but could also be worse and also will take a few years to get there. Dumba was 7th overall by the way

Clarkson isn't available for the expansion draft. He's on the NHL list of veteran players "exempt."

think we will sign Gionta eh? I'm not convinced of that unless he is willing to do 1-1.5 per 1 or 2 year deal |

I think the Clarkson situation will play similarly to the Moulson one. If there's a Moulson one. CBJ bribes Vegas to pick insignificant player, trades them a first round pick and Clarkson for a later pick. |

Delauriers will never touch the NHL imo. He can be waived without much detriment to the cap situation
Gionta may come back, although i'd like to see them bring in some new blood. Let him be a scout or something.
Overall, yeah i agree, but i think either Bailey or Baptiste will earn a spot in camp |

We know Gionta wants to finish his career here. I assume he knows he needs to have modest expectations for a one year contract. He still does his job well when employed correctly. I don't see a reason why he can't come back at 1.5-2 for one year, especially if Moulson isn't here hogging a roster spot. |

Reinhart should be at center, I agree. The real problem is flexing guys we maybe should not flex. If our top line is ROR, Kane, Okposo that leaves Eichel screwed...again |

Then that seals it. There's no downside to getting a guy who didn't score a goal off your roster |

I read something the other day that basically said that he's most likely not a fit at this point. Re-signing him would push someone else into a spot that they don't really fit in. |
