It doesn't matter where you save the shots from. Your total save percentage takes in account all shots from all areas, and all goals let in from all areas. Goals count the same from all areas. People want to try and sound smart by breaking down save percentage, but at the end of the game, it doesn't matter where or when the goal was scored from/at. - Mentalorgasm5
Explain to me how Lehner always looks like he's seen a ghost then on point blank shots?! He can't save anything in those situations. It's pathetic and not something your star goalie should be doing. |

Carrier looked good there at least, he gave effort and speed. All Foligno and Girgensons did was miss wide open nets that the face of your franchise set them up with? My point is mainly about the glearing lack of LW depth now that could actually play in the top six and if we trade Kane which I'm expecting us to do we have no one there with the exception of concussion bound Ennis and at best he's a 2nd line LW. That's if he finds a way to regain his form from 7 years ago... - bluengold12

Lehner is not a top 5-10 goalie, or bottom 5 goalie, so seriously who cares?
As long as they don't pay him like a top goalie, he can stay, leave, do whatever |

How is it different from a goalie letting in a weak goal from the blue line? Please explain to me how it's more pathetic than that? Or how it counts for more than one on the scoresheet? |

Playing him 5 million a year would make him the 16th highest paid goalie, a la right in the middle of starting goalies. Last year he was the 35th highest paid goalie. |

Well problem is, is he wan't to be paid like a top goalie. In my opinion he shouldn't get higher than 3.5 mill a year and that's being generous. |

No I'm upset with the fact that Botteril couldn't do a deal to get rid of Moulson or BADgosian and now once we trade Kane by next week we'll have zero players to play top six LW so we'll likely have a combo of a vet we overpay for and Ennis and Moulson there and poor Eichel will see the 2nd longest active NHL playoff drought go another year. |

I'd be willing to bet 10 of those 16 are well overpaid.
If he gets anywhere near 5 mil JB is a moron |

Ullmark also probably played 1 or 2 total shootout games here vs. Lehners countless ones. And I'm not talking about just shootouts Lehners danger save percentage is atrocious because he can't stop point blank shots. - bluengold12
I counted. Well, whoever made this website technically counted.
Lehner faced 8 shootout attempts last year. He stopped none of them.
In 2015-16 he faced 6 shootout attempts and stopped 2.
In 2014-15, he faced 14 shootout attempts and stopped 10.
In 2013-14, he faced 30 shootout attempts and stopped 20.
In 2012-13, he faced 10 shootout attempts and stopped 4.
I don't know what the deal is with the last two seasons as compared to the two before that, where he was pretty good in the shootout. |

Idk, with the cap increases, 5 million for a goalie really isn't that crazy. I don't like paying goalies either. I hated Miller's contract, but he got that when the cap was high 40s-low 50s.
When I first heard he wants 5 million, I wanted him gone, until I researched what goalies make. I don't know if 5 million for a goalie is the end of the world these days. |

I hope Botterill is smart enough to not give Lehner 4 mill a year. |

Why is it you keep saying we are trading Kane by next week - SABRES 89
Because Botterill knows this is the best time to trade him and he also knows that Kane will either not sign here now until after the season or he knows he doesn't want Kane here in the long term. When Dreger tweets a player is being discussed in trade talks 9.9/10 that player is likely getting traded. I don't like it I think we need Kane more than most think considering as I've pointed out we're downright pathetic at LW |

It might have something to do with the sabres only scoring 1 shootout goal. A little more pressure is added to every attempt you face when you know your team doesn't score any. |

It's not but goalies seem to fluctuate every year.
There's about 5 that are consistently really good. Lehner isn't there yet.
2-3 years ago, Dubnyk was bouncing around, now he's excellent.
Quick was a Vezina caliber goalie, now is incredibly average and can't stay healthy
Give him a 1 year |

For all the Carrier lovers out there, how would you feel if Botterill had given Vegas a second rounder to take Ulmark or one of our other plugs like Falk? Or how about a 1st rounder to Vegas to take Moulson off our hands? I am glad Botterill didn't pay a ransom to protect Carrier or to trade away Moulson's contract. I would rather have Moulson scoring 14 goals a year for the next two years on the 4th line and PP vs giving up a 1st.
While disappointed that Carrier is gone, I think he is definitively replaceable. |

technically, he was never this. his entire career has been riding the defensive structure and shot suppression genius that is the LA kings.
As soon as there was a crack in that shield he hit average hard. |
