Proper identification of the composition/division fallacy. Handled well, well played.

https://yourlogicalfallac....com/composition-division

- Aristotle

The composition-divison fallacy can also be called "having no clue what the Square of Opposition is" (I had to take a logic course in both high school and college).

Considering Regeir was the reason we had multiple 1st and 2nd round picks, I'd say the credit goes to the man in charge
- sbroads24

Those picks don't mean crap if you don't choose the right guys...

And the only reason they had so many was because they started to just unload just about any player that was worth a damn. Not exactly difficult to do. it's not like he managed to pick up all those extra picks and field a playoff caliber team.

Bots did a nice job last night. Paid pennies to keep a more important player. It's too bad we couldn't get rid of Ennis (only realistic high paid player) but it's clear that:

A) McPhee wanted Ullmark
B) Ennis (or other player besides Carrier) wasn't going to stop McPhee from picking Ullmark
C) The price to take those big contracts was unreasonable to Bots

The right decision was made in my mind. However, I'm curious as to the cost of unloading our major 3 undesired contracts. My guess is Moulson was a 1st, Bogo, Ennis a 2nd.

wanted him so bad that he only wanted a 6th rd pick back not to take him. Tells me he really didn't want him at all.

Seriously.

The Sabres options were so bad. It's like we were the expansion team

False he wanted carrier and a 6th for him...
Basically if we exposed ennis we wouldve had to give a much higher pick to save ullmark.

And while i dont agree with all the LV moves i do think they avoided bad contacts at all costs (as they should)

Thanks for stopping by, but it was exposing a player he wanted. And a 6th. Personally, I don't think Carrier is exposed if he didn't want Ullmark.

I don't know. If I'm a GM putting a new team together and I have my pick of Pickard or Ullmark, I'm taking Ullmark. He's younger, he's bigger, and put up better numbers with a team that was just as bad as the one Pickard was on.

David Clarkson kind of contradicts what you're saying here....

Clarkson is LTIR i believe. But yes they wanted nothing to do with bogo, brown, gaborik etc..

Heard Pham say yesterday that if bogo doesnt play how he thinks he should be used you lose him... hopefully this should humble him that not even a start up team wants his 3rd overall talents..

Correct he wanted carrier not the goalie. got a 6th out of it for doing nothing.

We can trade for top 4 guys all day. It wouldn't hurt to get one more. But really, where's our top 2 guy. I'd rather get that guy than draft at 8.

You realize 75% of the roster is contracts other teams wanted to unload....

They avoided our bad contracts but took a few on for good picks and players. I'm sure we did not offer up enough for them to take on Moulsons contract and they clearly set at defense so Bogos was not needed.
