Only ones who seem to do it are punks. I agree NHL should change the rule. College players shouldn't get special treatment that CHL or Europe players don't get. If you leave college and don't sign with the team that drafted you at the very, very least the NHL should hand out a 3rd round comp pick. But I don't like the lack of loyalty guys like Vesey or Petersen (Should he not sign) Are showing to the teams that put the work in to draft you - bluengold12
This just reads as bitterness because our prospect isnt signing with us.
This loyalty thing is blown way out of proportion. These teams screw players and prospects over as "part of the business" all the time and fans dont say poop. A college FA exercises his right to pick where he thinks the best fit for him is and now hes not showing loyalty? please.
oh and how much work is really put in drafting them. they go up on a stage and call their name and then 90% of their development happens in college. |

In the coming days look for the Florida Panthers to announce Chris Pronger as a high ranking executive with the club. - chilliard77

FYI....frank_seravalli: Closing up some of the loose ends lingering out there. Believe #Vegas takes William Carrier from BUF and Jon Merrill from NJD. |

Tell me why a college kid gets a right that no one else in ANY other north American sports league gets and decides to choose where he gets to play? How is that fair? |

They should go back to the draft every time they don't sign IMO. |

Knew it wasn't going to happen.. We're Buffalo we can't get nice things. No chance they would've taken Moulson, Gorges or BADgosian. |

I look at what the Isles gave up to Las Vegas just for them to take Grabovski, and I say "no thanks". At this point, with no real contending aspirations this year, they are better off stomaching the contracts, and look into buyouts a year later when the cap hits won't be as long. |

So we keep Ullmark which I'm happy about but we lose a cheap, well rounded young player who was fast and stuck up for his teammates. Look at the bright side though - Now Matt Moulson can play 2nd line minutes when we trade Kane and lose Carrier on the left wing! |

Carrier, if he is the guy that is indeed picked, can easily be replaced. |

(frank) that! I want the playoffs this year and so does Eichel. Want to keep your star player happy? Show some balls and make the team better! |

Yeah because we're so deep at LW and there's tons of under 25 speedy LW's for under 2 mill that can be had that have scoring ability and grit. |

It doesn't have to be either/or. The team isn't in cap hell right now. This team needs better defensemen to be a playoff team, and they have the room to do it, albeit on short term deals, even with Bogosian, Gorges, and Moulson on the roster. I am not upset at losing Carrier at all. |

Too expensive to have Vegas take a contract. The league gave Vegas way too many advantages in this. Not fair to prior expansion teams. |

Teams that are fascinated by those types of players often tend to not be very good. You draft and develop those guys. They're replaceable, as championship teams often illustrate. |

Who would win it instead? I would be shocked if he doesn't. |
