Very interesting. Don't really want to lose Kane unless we're getting a top 6 forward/top 4 dman in return. |

Dreger: "There are whispers that it's going to be $14 million for Connor McDavid." #Oilers - chilliard77
Jesus! Does he really want to be the highest paid player in hockey? Seems like a greedy ask but I'm not saying he is not worth it. |

Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli prepared to match any offer sheet on Leon Draisaitl
http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...fer-sheet-leon-draisaitl/
Yeah, about those who say Reinhart is better like Kris Baker. Um, no GM would say this about Samson. - GilPerreault11
I would not put it past the Flyers to put an offer sheet on Draisaitl. That's the one name I have to check three times to make sure I spelled it correctly. |

I'm sure the Players' Association and his agent are pushing him pretty hard to demand it. |

It is hard to say he is not worth it, but maybe it's his way of saying, give me a bridge deal or I want to see how many teams offsheet me. |

Ya, no poop eh! The Oilers are not a large market team, not even close. They have a couple more big salaries coming up soon too. I think he will go for an 8 year 9m per year. He is obviously a smart kid and knows that 14m per would kill the team. - lulags
When you're that high profile, you can bet that the NHLPA is whispering in his ear to demand that kind of salary. |

I sure hope someone puts in for this. Two issues:
(1) Of course the draft picks they have to give up, but I would think someone would go in the ~$8 mil territory.
(2) If Team A offersheets him, *if* they get him that takes them out of the running for a McDavid offersheet, which might be a moot point, because no matter what you offsheet McDavid at, they will match (or they should all be fired).
I hope some team puts in for ~$10 mil so that it makes it that much harder to get McDavid signed next year. I want us to hold out for McDavid, but I doubt he makes it to that point. |

Who's our pick at 8? - Powerslave
Cale Maker, plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz let it happen. Kid is a stud, sees the ice better than most. Great at qb'ing the PP and rush |

I saw mocks yesterday that had him going #1. So I doubt he lasts to 8, but I would be all in on that!

So he is going to sign a contract worth less than Kane and Toews signed 3 years ago, huh????? He's not going to leave money on the table and will get whatever he wants. If you had the choice between $14M or $9M you can't be serious in that your thought process would be, "it's fine I'll leave $5M on the table because the organization comes first and my pay is second." |

I understand that thought process, but at the same time, the team has to sign other players to keep the team competitive. You're going to end up in Chicago territory not being able to sign/resign anyone worth anything, unless they want to sign a $2M deal just to play with McDavid. |

I've seen as high as 1 and as low as 12 in mocks but I do not disagree that it is a long shot. I would love to see us swing a deal if he manages to make it past 5th to nab him. He is exactly what we need. |

Heard the Devils are interested in trading down with Devils to take Makar and they take Patrick. But at 5th or 6th overall is Makar there? |

14m per is pure speculation at this point. It would completely bust the teams chanves of remaining competitive for the next decade. 9-11m per range is realistic if you want to keep the team competitive. |
