I disagree. If none of the top two defenceman or an elite forward who can skate and score isn't there at 8 I trade the pick all day unless they're high on the Swedish defenceman who I actually like too. Not saying Tanev is that guy but we need to jump start this thing. Enough's enough. - bluengold12

I'm honestly surprised they'd rather keep Vatanen - sbroads24
I don't think it was Vatanen who'd have been picked
Manson is the guy the Ducks didn't want to lose

He doesn't get time. This rebuild is all ready past the point of "suffering"
He said it himself in his interview that he's open to trading the pick for a player. He's no idiot he knows they need to make big strides this year and make into the playoffs to get his young players some confidence and experience. |

Completely disagree. He just needs to get us back on track and everything will be fine. No need to be a panicky pete about this whole thing. |

No relaxing sorry. You have the second longest playoff drought in hockey you don't get to relax. |

Get back on track? How will he get back on track? Short of drafting a top defencenman there's no move in this draft I like. We have dead weight he needs to get rid of and needs to make his star player happy.
I watched Eichel after we didn't make the playoffs this year. He looks like a guy who is use to winning and has sat in Buffalo for two years middling around in mediocrity with mostly sub par vets or 4th line grinders on his wings. Now maybe part of that anger he had was over his disdain with Bylsma but I suspect a large part of it was seeing his rivals McDavid and Matthews succeed and have their teams make the playoffs while he went 0-2 in his career in terms of making it. If we go another year and he doesn't sign a contract this summer it wouldn't shock me to see him demand a trade. Not that we would but it will certainly create an issue. Can't say I blame him no one wants to be a loser. |

I'd trade it for a top six LW or a top pairing LD. |

What matters is if his star player wants to relax. My bet is he doesn't and if he wants out you can kiss goodbye ever winning the cup while any of us are alive to watch the team. |

WORd up
Eff Chris Tanev - he's a nobody and this hype about D men has propelled this nobody into this summer level of noisy nonsense.
Vancouver can keep this stiff - that team is shot. Still have the ancient Sedin twins just slowing things down - I Love loyalty but they need to move them out - -JCDC-
Agreed. I said this a few days ago. Somebody said shot back that he is one of the best defenders in the NHL. I watch a lot of Canucks game and I can tell you there isn't anything on that team beyond Bo Horvat or the d-man Finn they drafted last year that I would trade for. Although I would do the Ennis for Tanev trade that somebody just suggested. Throw in a 7th if we have to.

Disagree. Minnesota is looking to trade as is Duchene in Colorado as are the Islanders. We's have to add to it for Duchene obv. |

I've seen a few mock drafts having us take centers like Glass and Middlestet...
I know you draft BPA but I draw the line at center where you have your number 1 center for years to come and your number 2 for at least five more years, plus hopefully your number 2/3 center in Sweeden right now in Asplund.
If we lose out on both top defenceman I'd like to pick the Sweedish defenceman or Tippett. - bluengold12
Don't mean to pile on here at all, but I like the BPA approach. 2-3 years away from knowing what these guys will be...how can you game plan for that? In 2014 we drafted Samson as our #1 center...two years later and he was playing wing for our top two centers!
RoR could crash into another coffee joint. Jack could demand a trade. Asplund could not pan out. If you think Glass is ahead of anyone else available...take him, trade him later or put him on the wing if we are that stacked at the center position. We need difference makers as some have put it and it sounds as though you agree with that sentiment. At this point, shouldn't we draft the person we think will make the biggest impact regardless of position?
I'm not opposed to trading the pick if the return is right, but IF we kept the pick then BPA is smart. If we were an established playoff team I might be with you, but I'd rather have a hole at 2LD then skip out on a difference maker to fill it. |

If the 2 best defensemen or a stud, scoring forward aren't there for US, why is another team offering a top pairing defenseman or top 6 forward for that pick then?
Makes zero sense. |

It's about the organizational depth. We have none at defense and none at LW. If Jack demands a trade we will never win a cup. Reinhart I still believe is best suited for center so I'm not sure that argument works. Some players are best suited for center not wing. Glass is known as a play maker this organization has too many of those we need players in the organization who capitalize on the plays the play makers make . If there's a guy like Evander Kane out there we should draft him if we don't go defense. A young, power forward who can skate and score. No play making two way centers. |

Florida...Cubans are cutting it away from the USA as I type. They are floating it to Cuba to make their country bigger. |

While I don't know much about Tanev I seem to recall this board flipping out that Fowler wasn't worth the 8th overall pick last year. Obviously everyone who said that is now eating crow. If Tanev is as good as Fowler I'd take him for 8 but if he's not then I wouldn't. The fact that Dallas might trade 3rd overall for him though makes me believe other teams value him pretty highly. - bluengold12
They'd trade DOWN. Not totally move out of the 1st round. And Vancouver picks, what, 5? So Tanev for 2 spots. With some other picks for balance. Tanev is good. He's not worth 8, even this year. |
