Some posters have the same stat regarding real positive/negative opinions on this site.

Sorry Cabin but I'm standing by my statement. We're a sports city of losers. Just because Botteril is new to the job doesn't mean he gets three years to rebuild and draft players while not actively trying to make the playoffs. He needs to keep the only superstar this city has had in the last 17 years happy and get them a competitive team this year. I'm not saying sell the farm but he needs to make some moves to improve this roster in the now. Not in the five years from now.

Agreed. I'm tired of waiting but willing to give him a chance . Trying to only think the positives . To much negativity on a daily basis.

No. He needs to make the smartest moves he can make.

If Jack wants to be the (frank)ing GM, adios. The grass isn't always greener. Trade his as$ to Vancouver for Tanev.

Can anyone explain Florida to me?

Why did they want to lose both?

- sbroads24

Because that Reilly Smith deal is crazy and he took a big step back this year and 4 teams in 6 years in the league says something, and Marchessault is anything but a lock. It was Basically Marchessault to take Smith off their hands.

Florida...Cubans are cutting it away from the USA as I type. They are floating it to Cuba to make their country bigger.

He doesn't get time. This rebuild is all ready past the point of "suffering"

He said it himself in his interview that he's open to trading the pick for a player. He's no idiot he knows they need to make big strides this year and make into the playoffs to get his young players some confidence and experience.

It is literally 2 years after we fielded one of the worst teams in NHL history, I think we need to be a bit more realistic than that.

I really, truly think you're overreacting regarding Eichel and his late season tantrum.

If anything, he needs to grow up.

Not true. We certainly didn't draft for need last year. We picked a C/LW instead of defense.

Big difference in the #1 overall and the #2 rated prospects.

It's called luck.

If Eichel is better than Matthews like most think it shouldn't be.

Also as big of a fan of Reinhart as I have been since the beginning of his career we clearly picked the wrong guy in that draft. Draisatil was the clear pick. This is a make or break year for Reinhart in my opinion.

Kris Russell is set to re-signs with the @EdmontonOilers in the next 24-48 hours. 4 years/$18M with a full NMC is what I'm told. #Oilers

Edmonton? The Oilers have picked in the top 10 every year since 2009, top 5 six times since 2009, and 1st overall four times since 2009.

They're not a good comparison for the Sabres. Or any team for that matter.

Make or break for a 21 year old?

Draisaitl was the clear pick in the rear view mirror, you mean? So were hundreds of other players throughout the years. For every team. Every year.

Mathews is the goal scorer but eichel can control games by carrying the puck, dishing or shooting.... two different kind of players. But let's see what happens in a couple years. If I was building a team from scratch I'd still want eichel, not sure Mathews will ever be able to skate well enough control the flow of a game, but the kid has a great shot.

Eichel is clearly the better skater, yes.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy we have him.
