I'm hoping they keep the #2.... but all three 1rst rounder's from Vegas? that could be enticing.... and if they add other pieces??
Niemi? maybe....As far as keeping Read, it all depends on what the Flyers think they have in some of these young guys that are signed and coming to camp.
anyways good time to be a Flyers fan......exciting time. |

I'm fine with either.....I honestly think both are going to be very good. The mindset and attention to D side of the game by both these kids at 18 is ridiculous. Add the offensive part of the game, and you have two fantastic talents.

Bill Meltzer: Flyers 2017 Draft Weekend: First-Round Night - bmeltzer
Think you pretty much hit the nail right on the head. The only deal I see the Flyers making today is perhaps a deal to pick up a goalie. I could certainly see a deal with Stars similar to what Bill proposed, but I think the guy they would target would be the slightly younger Lehtonen, but it could certainly be Niemi. Since the last thing Dallas wants to do is buy either goalie out, I think they would be receptive to retaining money and only having the dead cap space for one year. I could see either of these 2 deals happening:
To Philly: Lehtonen (2.5 million retained) and a 2nd in 2017
To Dallas: Boston's 3rd in 2017 (upgrade to a 3rd to have them retain more $)
Or
To Philly: Niemi (1.5 million retained) and a 2nd in 2017
To Dallas: A 4th in 2017
Less likely, I could also see a deal with LV
To Philly: MAF (2 million retained)
To LV: Neuvirth and a 3rd in 2017
Other than that, I think they just make their picks, or perhaps package their 2nd with a 3rd or 4th to move up to the top of the 2nd round if there is a guy high on their list who has fallen into reach.
I'd truly be shocked if Hexy made any blockbuster deals.

I could live with a Niemi/Neuvirth tandem. Especially in a deal that would bring in other assets. It's not flashy, but would be a definite upgrade from what is currently in place.
Adding Read to maximize the return wouldn't hurt the team too much. At this point, his role on the roster is unclear, anyway. |

It doesn't do it for me. This year, there's a steep drop after the top-2, and it's not as deep as most recent drafts. I realize that you don't really know for sure until the guys have 3-5 years in the league, and while neither player projects to be McDavid/Matthews, the surest bets are on Nico or Patrick being a top-6 center, at worst. After that, especially outside of the top 5, it's a lot of maybes. |

Don't see it happening, but for me to make that deal, they'd have to take AMac and send us Methot. I'd much rather have Methot pairing with Provy on the top pair than AMac. I'd also let them keep the 15th overall and instead give us their unprotected 2018 pick with the codicil that if it is a top 3 pick, they Flyers will also give them their 2018 2nd.
However, I really think there is very slim to no chance that we will see Hexy making this kind of blockbuster deal today.,

I don't see a particular benefit to added quantity of picks this year (even in round one), especially when they already have 11 picks. Pretty high chance you end up with something along lines of a decent top-six player and two future role players or even a miss among the three. Would rather have a prospect like Nolan, keep developing what's already in house, and trust the scouts to hit on at least a couple other future NHLers from among the picks after the first round.

Yup, unless the Knight's unprotected 2018 1st is part of the deal, there is nothing to discuss.

Right now we suck. With today's second overall pick, we should instantly improve. Conclusion for half the board? Trade away legitimate talent. |

If they are dealing with Dallas for a goalie I would like to see Roussel included in a deal with Read a part going back. The guy is a 10-15 goal scorer, a player who creates havoc, and kills penalties. A player the Flyers need |
