If Brayden Schenn were a better player at even strength, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. - johndewar

4th line I guess. He makes a lot of money though. Basically the same salary as Schenn, but for 1 less year. - PhillySportsGuy
I am just a little baffled. They got a haul for Schenn in the regard that you get the first this year and the conditional next -- want to see what the condition is -- but getting another center...man.
See, this is exactly what I was talking about why they didn't need Filppula. Lehtera IS Filppula. You didn't need to do the Filppula deal when you did it, but you did and before someone tells me that you can move Filppula to wing, well, that's not what you said you got him for and again, you didn't need to do it two months ago |

Great return plus frees up cap space for something bigger as Mackenzie just said - mydoglicks
Doesn't free up that much space. |

What is the story on Frost? Seems a bit off the board from what I see of the rankings. |

how did Hextall get two first round picks fr Schenn? the conditional pick is top ten protected, where St.Louis can push the first rounder going to philly to 2019, if they do that they add a thrid rounder. this is a crazy haul fom Schenn. |

Seriously though, Tolvanen must've had horrible interviews to still be on the board this late with his skill. |

Not the same kind of players. Filppula is more skilled. Hockey is a fluid sport.

FWIW I'm very high on Frost and had him as a borderline 1st. Actually one of my favorite sleeper guys. Just loved watching him. He's a very very Hextall pick. I'm still unsure about the value in the Schenn trade, and Frost isn't the best fit as a playmaking center, but if you really believe in BPA.....so be it. He has a lot of upside, has a good floor, is still physically developing, and is whip smart all over the ice. High compete too. Flyers like what they like, and this pick does make sense to me. He's a good pick, though 27 is reaching based on consensus. Not by a ton though.
Need to digest this one. |

I didn't realize how much money Lehtera made. Yowsa.
That explains the draft picks that came back our way.
I'm still good with this deal. |

Mixed feelings but I'm leaning towards feeling good about the deal. Just don't know much at all regarding Frost |

If he gets put on a line w/ decent players, he can produce. - Tomahawk
Can he get above Giroux, Couturier, Filppula and Patrick as a center? |

How good is Lehtera??? - WhirlingDervish
Decent set-up man, doesn't pull the trigger enough, sees the ice well and his passes are accurate and can be handled. Responsible defensively
Skates about average
Isn't physical at all, can get knocked off pucks, isn't gonna remind anybody of Keith Primeau

Well, Brayden was the guy I thought was most likely to be traded...this deal had me feeling a little underwhelmed at the moment. |
