FWIW I'm very high on Frost and had him as a borderline 1st. Actually one of my favorite sleeper guys. Just loved watching him. He's a very very Hextall pick. I'm still unsure about the value in the Schenn trade, and Frost isn't the best fit as a playmaking center, but if you really believe in BPA.....so be it. He has a lot of upside, has a good floor, is still physically developing, and is whip smart all over the ice. High compete too. Flyers like what they like, and this pick does make sense to me. He's a good pick, though 27 is reaching based on consensus. Not by a ton though.

Need to digest this one.

I was wondering, thank you

Lehtera 4.7 million cap hit. Had 7 goals last year.

He's got a good shot. Just won't pull the trigger, man. Used to drive Hitch crazy sometimes

That being said, he was Tarasenko's set-up man, and I won't pretend that he doesn't pass well enough to get guys good looks

He is so so smart in both ends, despite average size. Like he really could be a steal. One of the smartest players I watched this year at center ice. Very shifty and quick too. Amazing passer. Pass first. Looks like a real center. Is scrappy and works his tail off. He has a quality where he just slows play down to a crawl. He is a master at controlling pace on the puck, and is a great PP QB.

I really do get it. I'm just shocked mostly.

Seems like was a throw in. Can't imagine he is any good. Basically 2 firsts for Schenn.

Supposedly something else might be happening. Way too many bodies.

That conditional 1st better be a first tbh.

I think Schenn's value was pretty low. They should have moved him earlier. Is Schenn worth $5M per year? sure. But is he worth much more than that? Probably not. Hard to deal guys for a big return when they don't have much surplus value. Hexy had to take Lehtera just to maximize the value on the return.

Not the same kind of players. Filppula is more skilled. Hockey is a fluid sport.

No. False.

I've seen the guy play for years now. Years. Don't go down that rabbit hole with me, because what you just said is completely false

Depth wise the Flyers are strong up the middle through the prospect level which is great. Moving Schenn leaves the Flyers thin on the wing. They must really be high on some young players moving forward to step up or have something else up their sleeve.

He's a piece for the bottom 6.

Or for LHV.

Plus, we don't have any Finns on the team right now.

/all I got.

I like it. Hextall is putting his stamp of things.
- johndewar

Yeah as of now there isn't much reason to doubt him. I would've liked more high end value for Schenn but it is what it is. Clears up space for a Simmonds extension lol

It's not false. Filppula is a more skilled player in my opinion. Save the rabbit hole nonsense.

I've never been shy about hating Brayden Schenn. He was terrible at even strength.

I recognize how good he was on the PP and how streaky of a scorer he could be. Good luck in St. Louis!

Seems the conditional is pretty low. We should get their 1st. Top 10 protected, St Louis can defer to 2019 if they want. If they do we get a 3rd.

Trade sounds better. That should absolutely be a 1st.

I do think the Frost pick shows he's thinking a bit outside the box and thinking about the future.

I also don't like Brayden Schenn and I'm confident that's coloring my opinion here.

Sounds like somebody who was picked 26th some years ago.
