The Ghost contract is really good
The PEB contract, while not great, wasn't terrible either
The jake contrcat is still okay. I would give it two more years to see if it was actually questionable
Really the only bad one on here is Weise and I'm willing to give him a pass since he got us out of cap hell and had a couple of really solid drafts

I was never getting personal. You are. If you don't understand why hextall won't give an aging power forward an 8 year contract that would make him one of the highest paid players in the league when his career high in points is like 58, thats on you

Yes. Nico or bust.

The knocks on Nico are so overblown. Undersized? GTFO. Not good defensively. GTFO. He's a lot better defensively than he's given credit for. He very well could be a bigger and more defensively sound Giroux at some point.

I can honestly see Hextall trading the number 2 pick, Neuvrith and Schenn to Vegas for their 6th overall and Pierre Edouard-Bellamare.

Fultz just isn't as good as everyone expects

And FAs just don't feel like coming to Philly

Part of me thinks that Nico is going to be the real high-end player - future All-Star whereas Nolan will be more of a Trevor Linden type player. 2nd line center gradually turning into a defensive-forward that never produces more than a couple 20 goal seasons. That's a great player to have but the Flyers already have one of those. They need a Giroux replacement bad, especially considering Giroux's swan dive off a cliff this past season.

While I have no doubt Giroux is in decline, I still think this season will be a better barometer as to how fast and far it really is. Hopefully he is 100% coming in to the season, no hip surgeries, no World Cups.

I hope to see him around that 20-23 goal 40-45 assist area.

Granted he has 44 assists and 58 points on what we consider a very down year. I just hope to see some more ES production. 9 goals and 17 assists in 82 games just doesn't cut it.

Well, for discussion purposes that is a RIDICULOUS Extension contract. That is kind of the point. 4 or 5 years @ 6 to 7 a year works. It is proven year after year that the big tail off hits at 30. Pay him for future production, not because he has had a deal that has been good for the team and Hexy thinks he owes him.

Agreed, that s why I don't see him trading back. With this gift because of luck, you have to come away with one of the 2 best prospects on your board. If you get cute, then shame on Hexy.

I know I am biases as I LOVE hockey, really like football, think baseball is ok and am eh about basketball, but I still believe the NHL gets the draft right and the best. Love how so many of the kids show up even deep into the later rounds. I was at the draft in NJ and loved how some kids drafted as far as the 4th and 5th round were there. No one shows up to the baseball draft really and even football was lacking of first round players showing up. I like that you can trade draft picks. still don't understand why you cant trade picks in baseball and why you can't trade the actual pick at the draft in basketball. its silly that a kid goes up with a cap on then 5 mins later he is traded to another team. let the team he is ending up with draft him. just weird to me. I like that teams name the player they want opposed to the Commissioner. Baseball is also odd that you get 2 months to sign the player or lose his rights.
