Just make the pick at #2. Maybe proven wrong but I swear as usual all this hype is being driven by media for hits. |

I know I am biases as I LOVE hockey, really like football, think baseball is ok and am eh about basketball, but I still believe the NHL gets the draft right and the best. Love how so many of the kids show up even deep into the later rounds. I was at the draft in NJ and loved how some kids drafted as far as the 4th and 5th round were there. No one shows up to the baseball draft really and even football was lacking of first round players showing up. I like that you can trade draft picks. still don't understand why you cant trade picks in baseball and why you can't trade the actual pick at the draft in basketball. its silly that a kid goes up with a cap on then 5 mins later he is traded to another team. let the team he is ending up with draft him. just weird to me. I like that teams name the player they want opposed to the Commissioner. Baseball is also odd that you get 2 months to sign the player or lose his rights. - nastyflyergirl
Baseball is by far the most complex and least exciting draft. There is so much BS involved that it takes away from the draft a bit. It is still the only draft where teams knowingly draft players that arent the best available because of signability concerns or $ allotment

Why does baseball's draft occur in the middle of the season? |

I don't see a particular benefit to added quantity of picks this year (even in round one), especially when they already have 11 picks. Pretty high chance you end up with something along lines of a decent top-six player and two future role players or even a miss among the three. Would rather have a prospect like Nolan, keep developing what's already in house, and trust the scouts to hit on at least a couple other future NHLers from among the picks after the first round. - bmeltzer
Since his is not an especially deep draft and with the plethora of picks w ace, would it be worth it to move back into the first round to select another high player like an Eeli Tolvanen in the mid-first round? |

He traded Rinaldo
VDV doesn't have a new contract yet
The Ghost contract is really good
The PEB contract, while not great, wasn't terrible either
The jake contrcat is still okay. I would give it two more years to see if it was actually questionable
Really the only bad one on here is Weise and I'm willing to give him a pass since he got us out of cap hell and had a couple of really solid drafts
I was never getting personal. You are. If you don't understand why hextall won't give an aging power forward an 8 year contract that would make him one of the highest paid players in the league when his career high in points is like 58, thats on you - bulet13
I do understand why. We have all seen the Flyers over pay vets over the years.
didn't G wind up with 58 points last year? Jake 61, Schenn 55 .
OK, now I feel better.
VDV he extended for his last contract
he extended Rinaldo the same year he traded him
I think Pebs contract was blocking prospects
I had mixed feelings about long term vs bridge on Ghost. I like the end result.
Jake needs time to evaluate
Weiss played well with Coots and Schenn, as long as that isn't blocking prospects I could live with that playing out.
So, on a different note, I'm not moronic and you aren't a D bag.
I know that this is a situation that I don't really want to consider. Simmer seems to me to be more durable than most power forwards. Can he pop in 25 + for 5 or 6 years?
Can we trade him next year and get the equivalent of the Richards trade? Where Simmer drops off the edge in 1 or 2 years and we get the new Simmer and Schenn.
I have long been on the keep and sign Simmer. We have 2 years to figure out what we have in our prospects.
You want to say, on the fence? I flip on this one sometimes by the hour.
Love Simmer, pretty much my favorite Flyers. Honest effort every night. |

I think it's because the past two drafts it's been clearly McDavid then clearly Matthews. With the uncertainty this year the media can make up trade rumors where Oilers and Leafs pretty much made it clear who they wanted early on. |

I think it has more to do with when the NCAA baseball season ends. |

It is at the end of most HS/College seasons, which is where the guys are being drafted from. It is always a little awkward when guys in the CWS get picked before their season ends though |

Who knows, maybe something does go down.
It just seems like a false narrative every year to get us all excited. A top pick is always being dealt, and every player drafted will be a superstar.
Was the same thing around the expansion draft and around every trade deadline. |

Same as the trade deadline or July 1st.
I pointed it out a while back when we got the #2 pick. Top picks do not get traded in the NHL. |

I'm fairly certain that if I don't go to a draft party tonight, they won't trade #2. Because the last time I went to a draft party, they traded the pick+ for Pronger. |

I hope something doesn't go down. Top line center prospect is about to fall in our lap, take the pick. |

It's a easy call. G is fading and you need a future number one C.
Take one of Nolan or Nico and play them as 3C next year. Laugh all the way home. |
