How do we get a d-man then, while it would be great to have PKane this leaves us with nothing to get help on the back end. - gordong

Dreger: I'm told #NYR would be willing to move 7 and 21 in first round to #Stars as part of a package to acquire 3. NBCSN - Stripes77
I'm waiting with bells on to see the Rangers give Shattenkirk 7 a year for 10 years. |

I did find out it is legit, and he was playing with it most of the season.
But it's very convenient isn't it? - Stripes77
I don't doubt its legitimacy. I'm pissed that it was worth it for him to play when he was making $7.9M a season and even last year at $4M, but now it's no longer worth it when he'd only make $1M. Now he still makes a $1M and doesn't have to do anything! |

If the P. Kane deal has any legs we would be relegated to FA for adding D. Would people like Shattenkirk then? |

A better question is why we would get him if the main reason they are moving EK is character issues. |

My sister in law is allergic to cats pretty bad, yet with a simple pill she can function around them without going into sneezing fits. Unless hossa literally bursts into flames from his allergy, I'm sure a professional athlete wouldn't have too much trouble finding some sort of medicine, some of which I'm sure average joes like us could not obtain, for a short term solution, be it game by game or perhaps a monthly injection of some kind. The convenience of it all is just too "X-files" to simply believe.
not too mention, If I were hossa, I'd be looking for custom gear without the said allergen impregnated into the equipment. Or I'd threaten to sue the NHL for putting my health in jeopardy if they won't allow him to use another type of equipment. There are ways to solve this issue, but to retire and supply cap relief is the best remedy apparently - bberkey1
The 2nd part I'm with you on. The first part, not so much. Allergies are no joke. And they can come on at any time with any severity. And exposure can actually give you an allergy as well. Like wearing equipment every day for 30 some odd years. If you look at food packaging some will say "produced in same factory that processes nuts." something to that effect. Some nut allergies are bad enough that just being in the same room makes you go into anaphylactic shock and you need to be hospitalized.
Hossa is on a medication that needs routine blood work. It was worth it for him to play when he was making $7.9M a year and even at $4M last year, but now that it's "only" $1M it's no longer worth it apparently. |

Due to his asking price...no. If for some crazy reason he would take a more reasonable contract then of course, but given his lack of success in the playoffs, his handedness, Jack's next contract and his own contract demands...have to pass on him. |

Wouldn't be able to afford him with paying Patty Kane $10 million and Eichel getting his raise unless Gorges and one of Bogo or Moulson were moved...probably Ennis as well.
Most I would do for Shattenkirk is $6 million per and the Rangers are going to pay him at least $7.5 per |

Oh I'm aware. I work with people with such allergies. I had no idea how much it affected Hossa, which sucks so in any case tough break for him. |
