It's almost like GoldieBotts is doing everything in his power to make sure Mittelstadt goes the Petersen route. And Eichel? Forget about it. He probably is already demanding a trade. I guess in that sense, it's good that Botts is the GM. - Hatboro_Swords

Ugh...
I f#cking hope not
Call me crazy, but I'm just not that psyched about defensemen who can't actually play DEFENSE - jdfitz77
Add Shatty and Smith and suddenly our defense is looking real |

I am willing to let it play itself out
we need 1 impact player still back there
and need to shed bogo, and moulson asap |

agreed to a point
if your core consists of risto, mccabe, antipin, guhle, beaulieu
that's 5 guys 25 and under
it takes d men longer to develop
this team is awful slow
get the horses up front, ready for 2 years, and then grab d men like crazy the next 3 years
IMO grabbing 2 kids up front and a goalie in the first 2 rounds is more of fixing the short term holes left by Murray
I could be wrong, but I doubt it - homiedclown
I'm fine with the best player available approach, but I was expecting him to address the defense through the draft this year. Now I'm wondering what his plans are going forward on D

Defensemen are far more valuable than forwards
Freaking Hammonic just got a 1st & two 2nds
another year wasted picking 2 forwards early & 0 defensemen
It's not really complicated...
If u wanna build a defense like Anaheim,
u have to spend your early picks on defense - jdfitz77
New Gm taking what he believes is bpa, not drafting for position isn't bad. As others have said, Bots prolly wants to see what we really have (with a coach that's not incompetent) before panicking about our defense.
Or he's got a killer move in the works as of right now. Either way I'm not shopping for rope and a rickety stool. |

One is a running back and the other owns a bar in Boston I think.

Nylander, Bailey & Baptiste are all great skaters though
Pu is pretty good too
It's not like we don't have speed coming soon
The one place we didn't have holes at was young forwards
It's not like I hate the picks, they were fine
But we can't continue to ignore the lack of defensemen in the organization
Risto & McCabe will be a solid part of our def core going forward
But the other guys are question marks still
And even if our defense was deep, we should still draft defense!
Look what Hammonic just got
Wouldn't it be nice to make a deal like that
Or have depth to trade a Larson for a Hall?

I'm not freaking out

if you have to trade for the right d man
your going to lose 2 or 3 of those kids up front though |

Almost positive it's still just 7
Probably mistyped
Picks 205 & 214 would still be in 7th round |

so we don't have to make trades like that |

After seeing the ridiculous amount that NyI got for Hammonic...
I have ZERO faith that we will trade for a top4 guy
Not anyone with great potential anyways
UFA might be the only option
And I'm really not psyched about who's out there |

2 of Anahiem's top 4 were drafted in the first round, the other two one was drafted in the 4th round the other the 6th...
You're overplaying the need to draft D in the early rounds. It's all about developing them properly |
