I have a feeling Mason Raymond will be on this team for the upcoming season.

I'm talking about his role, not style

He had 37 PP points this past year
He'll lose at least half of those if he's on PP2
Probably lose more like 75%

So if he's down to 40 points
And not good at all defensively
How can u pay that guy 6.5mil
For me, that's just a really bad idea

If we were gonna use him on PP1
Or he was actually good defensively
Then it would make sense

As it stands today, I think he would be our best defenseman offensively and defensively. I like to use both advanced stats and classic measurements to value players

Plus wasn't his D partner some combo of Orpik or Alzner?

Trotz is an old school style coach, he probably has a similar view point on him as you do. Just an offensive player.

I guess I'm under the assumption he could get that from a playoff team
And for us to get him we'd have to pay top dollar, 6.5 or more

He hasn't been good defensively ever

In StL, he was always the worst +\- defenseman on the team,
even though he got way more offensive zone starts

Explain how that happens EVERY year,
if that player is actually "good" defensively

No defenders in the first two rounds as always. More soft playmakers as always. Drafted a 7th round talent in the 3rd round...this has become one of the most Sabresy drafts I've seen. Sorry to freak out I'm sure after back reading I'll see this horse is a bloody pulp already, but I just don't get it anymore.

2) Karlsson 4 years ago wasn't that great in his own end...
he's MUCH better now though
