Deangelo is not that elite. ELite players don't get suspended half the season for bullying a teammate incessantly for being black. You can have all the talent in the world but if you're an ahole no one will deal with it long. He's been traded twice already. He is the perfect personality to play for the Rag bag.

Pretty sure DeAngelo is from Jersey. He can't help it, he was born to be a dbag.

The Hawks didn't get "fleeced" and the fact that the main blogger for the Yotes is writing this shows just how sad the Arizona franchise is. Hammer is 30 who should get a raise in two years. If you're the Hawks, you are signing a 32 y.o. defensemen who makes a living taking 100 mph shots into his legs and torso or letting him walk for nothing in return. The Hawks already have an older D man in Seabrook with a big contract whose skill is on the decline making big money. Hammer didn't have a NMC. It made perfect sense to trade him. The Hawks saved money and got two players that could flourish in an organization committed to hockey. And if they fail, then the Hawks still won by saving cap space. This trade is plain and simple...the Yotes won by getting a good D-man for the next two years. The Hawks won because they shed cap and got two players who have upside. It's ok to be excited as a Yotes fan. But to say that the Hawks got fleeced is just hockey dumb.

With significantly better players around them to make them actually improve at the NHL level vs. barely AHL-rosterable-hot garbage up and down the roster.

There's ZERO whining about what Tanner wrote (regardless of the fact it just is terrible analysis). He's a hack (and has been) - it's a statement of fact. Completely different than whining.

If he is so good at managing his cap why is there a CHI fire sale every off season?
- Feds91Stammer

The Hawks, despite the "fire sales" have won 3 cups this decade. What has Detroit done in the salary cap era? And no one from Detroit has any room to criticize StanBo. Really?? Ken Holland??? Ask him how much the next Dan Cleary contract will be for?

If Jimmy Tan Tan needs proof of what this can do for a young dman, he should take a look at Jultz's play before and then after his trade to the Pens.

What does Holland being the worst GM in the league have to do with CHIs poor cap management? NOTHING!!!

Nice try at the well your team sucks so your opinion is invalid theory.

After the first Cup run, there was a major reshuffling due to impending cap issues. That lead to Cup #2 and Cup #3. They were an elite team this year that ran into a buzzsaw in Nashville. What does that lead to? Cap management past this season. Their cap management has been overall very very nicely managed.

How I wish after that 2009-2010 season the Hawks didn't have a to manage a cap & could spend freely - you know... similar to situation the Red Wings faced during their Cup run. They may have 6 Cups at this point being able to keep THAT roster in place.

I'm not really sure how bringing up something that has nothing to do with the topic of discussion makes sense? That usually says you don't have the brain capacity to put forth a logical argument, so you deflect to another teams situation to mask the criticism of your teams situation.

I honestly feel like they finally starting listening to you/reading your blogs haha. Shedding Tippett, Doan and Smith, creating a solid top line defensive pairing, a new 1/2C and playing all the youngsters.

.....it's like this team might actually compete again

where did I mention injuries at all?

well yes it could be more prominent if he is playing on the top pair in phoenix playing more minutes no?

High mileage is often synonymous w injury. He was top pairing in Chicago quite often. Always faced top comp

Kinda like trading away assets for lesser players while saving little to no cap.

Well the Hawks certainly didn't do that - and I know that's what you're alluding to.

But... hey - you know what... you obviously know more than one of the better GM's in the game. Keep it up!

Awww....struck a nerve with that one. Yup. The Hawks who have won three cups, and are usually a top three western conference team sucks. Yup, Stan Bowman, who retooled the team twice to produce two more cups after that sucks. I guess the Hawks should find old broken players like Kronwall and Franzen and sign them to mega deals. That should fix their problems

Stop trolling. Real hockey fans know the ins and outs of deals. So either you're dumb or you are trying to be funny. Fail on both accounts. This deal made sense for both teams. Arizona should now try to trade Hammer at the deadline for a kings ransom to get some great prospects and develop a core of young talent. Hate all you want but the Hawks fans on here are right both about this trade and about Tanner.
