If he is so good at managing his cap why is there a CHI fire sale every off season? - Feds91Stammer
The nature of the NHL salary Cap. Build a great team that wins 3 Cups, has a roster full of top players, which leads to lower draft picks and a lack of top prospects on EL deals will lead to cap issues. That would happen to every single team in that situation.

Bingo. He's addressing the current & near future cap challenges by getting younger with more cap controlled players with skill and talent (Saad IS an elite power forward) and backfilling holes with cheap/veteran fill-ins while supporting a roster with three of the best players in the NHL still on it. |

Awww....struck a nerve with that one. Yup. The Hawks who have won three cups, and are usually a top three western conference team sucks. Yup, Stan Bowman, who retooled the team twice to produce two more cups after that sucks. I guess the Hawks should find old broken players like Kronwall and Franzen and sign them to mega deals. That should fix their problems
Stop trolling. Real hockey fans know the ins and outs of deals. So either you're dumb or you are trying to be funny. Fail on both accounts. This deal made sense for both teams. Arizona should now try to trade Hammer at the deadline for a kings ransom to get some great prospects and develop a core of young talent. Hate all you want but the Hawks fans on here are right both about this trade and about Tanner. - Shamz24
Again trying to attack the DET side of things LMAO. I have been rooting for this team to suck for the past 3 seasons...
How did this deal make sense for CHI? |

I'm not really sure how bringing up something that has nothing to do with the topic of discussion makes sense? That usually says you don't have the brain capacity to put forth a logical argument, so you deflect to another teams situation to mask the criticism of your teams situation. - j.boyd919
Read between the lines. He's a Detroit fan criticizing our GM. Ironic since his GM is by far the worst in the league. So it's hard to take someone seriously when they support a franchise that doesn't know cap management and then in previous posts show they are about as savy at understanding the cap as their GM. Guess I'll spell it out better next time to the lowest common denominator.....dumb. |

And how is the argument not logical? Read up and you will see a very logical analysis of why this was a good trade for both teams despite Tanner's boyish and sad blog. |

So, ends up that piece of garbage player was the #3 prospect on the team with "the best prospect pool in the NHL by a good six miles>"

Not doing your homework as presenting it as fact is a sign of being lazy and unethical - especially when you lie about a fact to make a point.
Just stick to doing what you do best: Insulting people who disagree with you.

So because a GM I wanted fired years ago sucks I can't criticize CHIs GM? Sound logic there bud. |

Hammer is 30 and has a lot of miles on his legs.
In the near future he's going to want a contract that the Hawks simply cannot afford.
Also: I PROMISE you that Stan Bo shopped Hammer and this was the best return.
They get two developmental prospects with one of them having ability to fill a top two pairing on the NHL level with better players around him and the other being an organization's top 3.
The Hawks will backfill the Hammer loss for THIS season at some point this offseason. |

Also: The Hawks couldn't afford to take on a veteran in return for Hammer - veteran = higher salary. |

Tanner this just shows that the only stupid thing Chayka has ever done wasn't his fault. That is Murphy's contract. Now it's obvius that this was Tippet's sign. Great day for Arizona. I smell high end contender very soon there. |

spin zone. murphy at 24 is not a prospect. he's terrible. enjoy watching him get hemmed in his own zone shift after shift.
dauphin is just not very good either. developing into a decent 3rd line player in a couple years would be a huge win.
chayka owned bowman on this trade. |
