So in the space of a year and a bit, no more than one season played, the Leafs have traded two 1st round picks and a 2nd for players aged 26 to 30something. This is why I said they jumped too soon and the Canucks will eventually draft a much deeper team. Patience.

i like it from the leafs' perspective. they get 3 years of hamonic at 3.9 and give up this year's first and 1 year of jvr.

not lop sided for either team but hamonic and cap space/certainty given their lineup is a pretty good return.

I still think there is a chance that Tanev gets traded today. The asking price on some of the other D out there is steep and Benning likely feels that he is an position that he does not have trade unless it is a very good deal. I would not be surprised if some teams circle back to the Canucks today. Benning is usually very active on draft day.

However, I believe, more important than the deals you make, are the deals you don't make - the ones you walk away from.
