Regarding the Frost pick. Over the past few years I have learned to trust the Flyers scouting under Hextall.
They seem to stick to their own criteria and it seems to be working for them. |

I'm betting they score 220 again. but more because the replacements for cousins/PEB/VDV score more, not because patrick or lindblom score more than schenn - nails
That's where I am at this moment -- I'm not saying that the Flyers won't ever score again, but man. Are we really acting like Schenn's 50-60 points were just gimmes?
If that's the case, why have only a couple of other dudes been doing it?

Losing Schenn in the short term will hurt. Hopefully the long view works out.

that was my expectation.
IF patrick and lindblom are really good enough to make the roster, then they have 3 extra forwards right now. - nails
My only issue with the Schenn deal was taking Lethera contract. They have been trying to dump that deal for awhile much like us with Amac or Read. I have a sneaky feeling the 2nd conditional 1st round pick was included to take Lethera as the contract coming back. Overall. I will love to see what hexy does today. My guess is by the end of today we will know exactly who are goalie is next year. |

I don't think anyone would have predicted Schenn would land two 1st rounders. They do need to replace those goals . Giroux and Jake simply must be better, and hopefully the infusion of young talent will push them. I also wouldn't be against a possible other "big deal". Hextall has put his stamp on this team via the draft and maybe he continues to do that via trade. A goalie is a must - 3flyerkids
I agree completely. Everyone, including me, are extremely excited for the coming season with all the youngs kids, but there are still so many unknowns. The one thing that has been my biggest worry the last couple years is Giroux and Voracek. I don't care so much about how many points they score compared to others or previous years, they need to become catalysts that drive the team again. Voracek definitely had a bounce back year with his play, but needs to be better. Giroux needs to be that player again that the other teams have to focus on, he seems more of a go through the motions and hopefully get a point here and there guy. Plus I am tired of hearing the same excuses about injuries, I don't want to hear every year you were injured and that's why it took 6 months to start playing better. |

my guess is.......
they think that NP and OL together will out produce Schenn next year, a full season of weal and filpula will increase as well.
so 220 should be doable.
where they could start getting +220 is if weise improves by a handful and the VDV replacement actually scores a goal |

If they put him as Freakorenko's center, with Jaden Schwartz as the other wing...LOL
See, that's what they're probably gonna do, and man, get ready for the howling because those numbers could be something to behold -- Schwartz and Freakorenko carry the puck a lot into the offensive zone, so Schenn's weakness in that area is minimized
But his ability to find little seams in the offense, pop in quick little rebounds and make quick little offensive plays...I could see Schenn putting up 70 points next year
Not even joking - AllInForFlyers
I wouldn't be surprised either, but Flyer fans have to keep in mind that the points he scores in St. Louis wouldn't be the same in Philly. Different style, ice time, usage, teammates, etc. That's why it is always bad to compare players by their basic stat lines. |

Love the moves. Would be nice to keep schenn but if he wasn't scoring it felt like he was a mannequin out there at times. Hextall definitely making the right picks in thr draft. So used to female doging about draft decisions |

Oh, absolutely -- St. Louis has really talented wingers, the kind we don't have. It really could be a good fit for Schenn, and Armstrong recognized that and paid the price
Two first-rounders is a good haul for Schenn, and I don't hate the trade -- I don't judge it based on what they do elsewhere
Just saying that he is likely gonna put up some numbers that might be eye-opening to some folks

hypothetical, assuming everyone signs and in no particular positional order
OL-G-Jake
Raffl-NP-Flip
TK-Cout-Simmer
Weal-Lethera-Read
Weise-laughton-veccione
take any of those last 6 and make them the 4th line and it is way better than the last couple years. the bottom 9 is a better overall group than we have seen in the last 3 years at least, so as long as the rookies replace Schenn's production, the bottom 9 should produce more overall team scoring.
I hope. |

Exactly, the Flyers don't need to have 1 specific person to match Schenn's production. Every year some players productions increase, some stay the around the same and others decrease. The only reason to worry about 25 goals from Schenn is if you are building a fantasy team, otherwise it is pointless. Whatever Schenn does in St. Louis doesn't matter because it won't help/hurt the Flyers.
Perfect example...Mike Richards.
2010-11 81 GP 23 G 43 A 66 PTS
Pretty sure the Flyers had no issues replacing his production. Just saying at the time of the Richards trade, he was considered better and more important than Schenn is today. |

Like the trade a lot. Florida got nothing for Reilly smith.
Although I saw the pick is also top 10 protected in 2019?
Schenn never found solid ground here outside the pp - Just5
I don't think the top 10 protected part matters. I can't see the Blues being in the bottom 10 |

I think he will have a career year, actually anything less will probably be a major disappointment. |

You never know though. A couple injuries here and there and they just miss the playoffs then BAM...Lottery Pick. |

Flyers reach on Frost because they plan on using their second rounder in a deal today? Maybe they just really like him. I trust hextall either way. |

Schenn is the third left wing who's good for 25-30 goals a season that the Flyers have traded in the last five years. I just mention it in passing. |
