They've been in a rebuild mode since Hextall took the job. He's been consistent in the moves he's been making and I think he has the team moving in the right direction to be a contender for quite awhile probably starting in the 19-20 season.
Hey, if you disagree that's cool. I'm not trying to change your mind, nor are you going to change mine. Believe whatever you wish. - BiggE
Hextall plan has been very evident, I agree. Acquire multiple draft picks that gives him flexibility to move around when he identifies value. At this point, he is relying on home grown talent to push guys off the roster who by Hexy s evaluation won't be as good. He believes Lindblom and Konency are worthy of top 6 roles at wing and Schenn was deemed the weakest link in that role. We ll see if he is right. |

Ratcliffe? Wow. I'm excited to see how he develops. Kid could be a stud!
I do however recall some of you guys pooping all over him when he was originally rated higher and it looked like we were picking 13th. - hereticpride
If it makes you feel better, I never pooped on him. Now if you were talking about Crouse then yes I still feel he is a turd. |

13th would have been a reach for him, IMO, I had him at 24.

They've moved into the utter crapshoot part of the draft now, may as well grab a goalie. They were going to take one at some point.

Have no problem with it...everything is just icing now. Next pick WILL be a defenseman. |

Ok boys, it's a nice day. Me and my guitar are going outside for a while. I'll read later about all the guys that I've never heard of that they take in rounds 4-7

I'm cool with G and V still being here. Giroux is still a force on the PP, in fact he's one of the most dominant pp guys in the league and he's also still one of the best faceoff men in the league as well. I don't think he'll ever put up the numbers he was putting up 3-4 years ago again, but he can still be a very effective player for a few more years. Jake is one of the few guys on this team that puts up quality numbers at ES and has the kind of build and is the kind of skater that usually allows a guy to still be a pretty good player into their early 30's. - BiggE
I agree with all this. Hexy is rebuilding the team without going full on tank mode. None of the prospects are being rushed. Dumping G and/or Jake now would be going full retard and you never do that. Especially in Philly where it is expected for them to compete every season.
AS to the late 1st rounder this year, hearing he is the 2nd fastest skater in the draft is music to my ears. They need to be faster. |

Well the Rinaldo trade pick is a goalie from Russia. Here's to hoping he becomes the next Bob! |

You really can't. I subscribe to the theory that you take one every year, and you shouldn't be afraid to burn a high pick on one, either

" Athletic 6'3" goalie with great lateral agility" is about the only write up I can find. Reads plays well and has strong rebound control.
Edit: Holy poop. This kid has got good numbers though. |

Truly wonderful. I've long hoped for a full rebuild and it's beautiful seeing it. |

This guy isn't in the consensus top 150. I can see taking another goalie in the 7th round but now? |

I've learned to trust the flyers scouts in the middle rounds these past few years. The kid has great numbers.
But yeah, that said, I don't think I need to see us take another goalie for a while. |
