The negatives on the scouting report are doesn't play defense (can be taught), doesn't skate particularly well (could be a problem). For a fourth rounder, that was ranked in the top 30 by most before the season and ranked at the draft at #48, certainly can't complain.

I love the way he protects the puck and moves he might not be the best skater but his reach seems to help him get past players and around them. He also has a big shot and I could care less if he can't play defense this shoouldnt be the 2003 Devils its the new NHL we could use some forwards that are exactly that forwards not defense man. I hate that it is almost a requirement and then we wonder why we are at the bottom of the league every single year for goals scored its exactly because we basicaly want our forwards to be defense man and I am glad we got away from that sort of thinking this draft. You win games by scoring goals plain and simple lol

I wouldn't exactly say we got away from it, just so happened both of the forwards ranked #1 and #2 in this past draft are described as 200 foot players that play very well in their own end.

Am I wrong to think Nico has that "Elias creativity"? Elias had such vision and so underrated in that regard, the more reading I do seems like Nico is the same. Could we be looking at the same excitement the A line gave us with Hall and Nico?

Our hopes are IF Hischier pans out to hits that "high reward". We need 1 more year of suck. Hischier (and Hall) can't do it on their own, with neither of them being a Kane or Kopitar or Crosby or whatever.
