both have three years on their deals

Scandella is a 2nd pairing and Faulk is a 2-3 d man

with having Gardiner with two years and one of these guys at 3 years that gives Lilegren enough time to see if he is the real...or even Dermott for that matter.

but at the end of the day he knows he has to either give the Leafs a discount or he leaves...and they both know exactly what's going to happen between them.

With all the Swedes coming in there's no way Nylander is being dealt any time soon.

Lilagren is a top end talent for sure. He will need a year in Sweden but after that I see him being sheltered on the 3rd pair as he develops for a year. The sky is the limit with him but they also need to be careful.

With that being said...a D with 3 years would be perfect to trade for. Gives him plenty of time.

If the Leafs really want to take advantage of having the kids on ELC's and Jumbo Joe was still interested in a legit chance at a cup, it could work if they get him on a team friendly deal. They could use him as a 2/3 centre and pp guy, while mentoring the kids. Then Bozak would be an expendable asset, as possible trade bait for a D upgrade.

How sweet would it be to see Thornton end his career with a Cup in Toronto?! Obviously, there is more needed to win but I think he can still help a team, especially a team like the Leafs.

Hell, Marleau can come too!! Remember when Kariya and Selanne made winning a priority and signed really cheap deals together with Colorado back in 2003? Make it happen Lou!!!
