I guess JBott figures that Guhle/Risto/Beaulieu/McCabe/Borgen and a player he acquires via trade or free ageny will fill the top 6 spots 2 - 5 years from now and the forwards he drafted might be able to help us sooner than any dman he could have selected.

I think connor Struggled in some of the strength stuff at the combine too. He turned out alright. He ain't aint soft one bit either.



Yamamoto certainly fill the skill need we had in our fairly empty prospect cupboard up front. But it's tough for guys that size to make the show no doubt

Yes the defense is the main concern, but perhaps free agency/trades can help bolster the defense. Also the Sabres will be playing a different style of hockey which will hopefully work better with some current players.

it's something that will play itself out over the next few years...liljegren dropped to 17th and he's at least two probably three years away from having a legit shot in the nhl...a lot can change

JB did it correctly. Who knows what the roster will be like in 4 years? For all we know several of the guys currently in the pipeline will pan out on D. Take the best player on your board.

89 what d were we supposed to take at 8? Foote would have been a huge reach and jiljegrin lasted to 17. You could argue for a trade down but there's no basis for taking a d at 8. Casey's got immense talent. If he puts it together physically, he'll be a stud. They drafted for speed - even the goalie was the fastest one at the combine, though that doesn't really matter
