Pretty sure Cindy Crosby is also known as a grade A DB as well, but he produces, which is all that matters, which in the end is I believe what your point is.
I don't trust Kane enough to sign him to an extension, so I would be looking to trade him, but if I feel the offers aren't enough, as he is a good player, there is no rush as the trading deadline might be the better opportunity. - kingcong39
I'd hang onto to him until the deadline unless someone like LA would give up Martinez (Muzzin would never happen)

Bourbon Chicken Wings at "Miles' Bar" in Downtown Louisville, Kentucky!
Best Wings I've Every Had
Four friends had planned trip and one couldn't go, I got the CALL Up ! Due to my Positive Demeanor and Quality of My Broccoli
Any how, The looks on the faces of locals at Gas Station hearing the NHL Draft were Priceless
I had hopes Sabres could TRADE
(1st)#8 + 2nd(#37) Casey Mittelstadt & Marcus Davidsson
In Return , picks
(1st)#17+ & (1st)#29 Timothy Liljegren & Erik Brännström
"Takes two Teams to Tango"
I believe many are Underestimating the talent & upside of
Victor Antipin , Nathan Beaulieu and Guhle, most put all three at 5-7 NHL Talent Peak but I see Peak closer to
1 competing top pairing w/Risto
1 our Number 4 D-Man
The other a 7th D-Man
Casey Mittelstadt- (I'll take GMJB on this)
"Named All-USA Player of the Year for a second straight season and Mr. Hockey as the best senior boys' high school player in Minnesota, Mittelstadt (5-foot-11, 199 pounds) has elite skill and compete."
I really liked (Martin Necas (12th) , Juuso Valimaki (16th) & Timothy Liljegren (17th) personally, but I'm a Teacher not a NHL GM) |

Pretty much same here, although I think I'd prefer a young D prospect who has already cracked an NHL roster, at least initially, even if that means sending something additional to the other team. |

If there is truly a mandate from ownership to be better and make the playoffs, do you make a push for the package deal of Thornton and Marleau together?
Based on Ryan Wilson's blog, Pitt would be a more desirable location for Jumbo Joe, but if you make the pitch to both Thornton and Marleau together, maybe that would sway them?
Youre top 3 lines would have the following duos:
Eichel & Reinhart
O'Reilly & Okposo
Thornton & Marleau
It would be quite formidable. - kingcong39
I suggested this a few times
if you can move gorges, you should have enough money to try to land them each on a 1 year deal
the time to try this is now not next year when you have to pay jack and the skunk |

i dont think any team gives up a roster player. If you wait till deadline day you could get some kind of conditional first or something |

I think if you offer them both a 2 year deal as a package together, the reality becomes much more possible. |

I don't think they nees to move Gorges as they have the room and he is gone after this year anyway.
They may have to mve Kane though to make it work. |

If the Sabres are in the playoff run do you trade Kane at the deadline and get nothing for him? Hell no, that's why you sign him or trade him in the offseason. |

whoa you lost me here
Blues moved shattenkirk, if you cant get him signed and someone's offering a conditional first im all over that
my guess is all the offers on kane right now are lowball, homie would know a little better but thats what it sounds like. |

That would make him essentially a pariah, especially based on his goal production last year.
I don't believe that. |

IF the Sabres have a very good season under the new coach, system and few injuries and are still sniffing at a playoff spot you risk pissing off some of the team if you trade your top left wing, theoretical 2nd leading goal scorer at the deadline for a draft pick. |

this is why so many people got mad when st louis did it? im not saying they should be sellers at the deadline. Were the blues not buyers as well? this is nothing more than moving a guy because you couldnt work out a deal and dont want to lose him for nothing.
If they flipped kane for a first and then flipped that first for a d-man? |

Really? Id say given his production last year thats exactly what he is. any other player produces the way kane did the offers are coming in left and right. |

Evander Kane is white.

What would that get you, exactly? A playoff series or 2? It would stall the rebuild as far as draft picks go. |
