I would do it .. we be basically just paying the same contract that we would be paying Sam Reinhart if he was producing at the level |

As much as the Vanek situation irked me, I really have zero interest in doing another team's negotiating for them. |

I would offer him 10 mill and let them match it. Then I will enjoy when they have to sign McDavid for 14 mill he is asking for as is being reported in Edmonton.
24 mill for 2 players - Matthews_Auston
Good thing they have Kris Russell at $4 mill per to shore up the back end |

Hoffman, Turris, and Stone all scored more than Kopitar and within 5 pts of Jonathon Toews this year.
To me.. there are ELITE players like McDavid, Crosby, Malkin, OV, P. Kane, Marchand, Kucherov, Tarasenko, Getzlaf, Backstrom, etc. (consistent 75+ pts)
Then there is that TOP TIER... Kessel, Benn, Seguin, etc. (Consistent 50+)
To me... that is where the Hoffmans, Turris, Stone, ROR, Kane, Okposo, etcs sit. |

Good thing they have Kris Russell at $4 mill per to shore up the back end - mattmoulson
And
Lucic at 6M for 6 years
RNH at 6M for 4 years
Sekera at 5.5M for 4 years
Klefbom at 4.2M for 6 years
Larson at 4.2M for 4 years
Then Strome, Letestu, Maroon, Slepyshev, Caggiula, and Nurse as RFAs after this season in addition to McDavid.
Granted they have 22M in cap space right now but that can be eaten very quickly by Draisaitl this year.

Karlsson is an elite level talent.
The term 'generational' gets thrown around here way too liberally.
McDavid. Crosby. Ovie. Those are generational.
We have a burgeoning elite level player in Eichel.
Imo, you don't need a generational talent to win the Cup.
In fact, just because you have one (Ovie) doesn't mean sh!t.
Give the damn NEW GM A CHANCE to fix this crap.
And for those that think it's going to happen this summer, I'd say stop holding your breath and get a job.

Agreed
I do believe it starts this summer though.
Hiring Housley most important move this summer so far
Trading a 3rd for Beuleiu (man I will never be able to spell his name)
Antipin signing

Ok so after the initial disappointment of the 8th pick (wanted Tippett) im actually very excited about Mittelstadt. I think he could be a one and done player and could potentially be signed after his season this year similar to Keller. Sucks that Liljegren went to the leafs. I think he could be in a leafs uniform by next season. Mittelstadt is a semi higher risk but I think the reward could be huge. Many are saying he has one of the highest ceilings in the draft and one of the only players with top line upside. Alot to be excited about with this pick. |

$10 mil is (4) 1st round picks as compensation.
So once you get past $9,814,000 you mind as well go a little higher.
Or if you go just below that it is (2) 1sts, (1) 2nd and (1) 3rd. Seems more logical.
I really want to see a team offer sheet him though. This will screw with them so hard moving forward. The question is, do you go right to 7 years or go with maybe 3?
It does seem they have the cap room to make it work, but it will hurt the "other" players they want to sign moving forward (which is the idea). |

He also didn't trade a 1st round pick for a 4th liner like Ryan Reeves like his former team did either. - JVince11
I still can't believe they did that. |
