Don't think botts thinks this a playoff team next year. His goal is two years out to be perennial contenders. We do need the young guys to step up in top 6 roles. Every good team has nobodies step up. Crosby plays with a scrub on his line every year. You can pay a good winger on each line and need a young cost controlled guy. Can't have 6 7 million dollar plus players in your top 6.

I never said that. I'm just saying if we lose Kane or Reinhart we will bring one of those up, we have to. And again these players might fit the system 100x better than under Bylsma's, you don't know. I still think most of the teams in the East chew us up even with Kane or Reinhart, you must think ROR or Eichel are the second comings if you don't.

And who would that be ? the other poster I was replying to said scrub with Crosby, I didn't. If that player is a scrub it shows you how good Crosby is, we are not there yet.

If jack is our guy he will need to do that

People are saying we need defense but the thing is we need defense NOW not 3 years from now, drafting a d-man first doesn't make much a difference if it he isn't around to help for another few years. GMJB took the BPA and it I honestly don't have too many complaints.

What's more important is moving one of our scoring pieces for a top 4 d-man.

Davidsson is growing on me the more I read about him. Luukonen was a sensible pick...but Laaksonen wasn't supposed to go anywhere near there, isn't it bad asset management to not at least wait on taking him until a later round?

Jack is not on the same level of talent as Crosby. Maybe that will change but as of now, he can not do that.

The point i would make here is that the lists we get are not the same as the lists some teams have. His report reads well, i dont think he would have gone that late and so it doesnt surprise me that we took a chance on him.

success rate between round 3-4 or 5 isnt too far off. if you think this is one of the few guys who can turn into a success as a round 3-7 pick its worth it. The risk vs reward is minimal.

If they had taken him 31st thatd be kinda nuts.

It's time to move Reinhart to the position he was drafted to play.

If Eichel/O'Reilly/Reinhart can live up to their billing at center, they will make whomever lines up beside them better.

We can combine our kids with a veteran UFA or two to round out the lines.

So you move scoring for upgraded D and then you have no scoring. We need to move Mouslon, Gorges and maybe a few other to rid us of the bad contracts. July 1st may help us out if they can sign a D man but, where do Bogo and Gorges play ? Not that I want gorges in the lineup.
