No joke, I had Pettersson ranked #1 for the past month or so... Just didn't figure the debate posting it would instigate would be worth my time since I honestly couldn't fathom Benning doing a consensus "reach" at this point in his employment. - DrChristianTroy
I will corroborate this. |

I complained yesterday. I was just upset Makar didn't fall to us. I overreacted when he was picked. Credit where it is due, I think Benning did well.

he is a fascinating prospect. He could easily be the best player if he fills out and can handle the transition to the smaller ice |

By the way thanks for the blog Carol, after watching some of those goals this Pettersson kid will be really good for the Canucks for years to come.
Great job by Benning yesterday, now lets get the scoop on the front office shakeup.

I just think Hague has big potential. I dont hate the LInd pick just would have gone with the Dman as we dont have much doing for us on defense and he plays with an edge. Id really like to start adding some mean to the team and move away from the mostly euro core. - mauryballstein
Our D is not much for Euro overall.
Hague has grit etc but skating & passing is more our need on D. |

Good catch and surprised you went that way after Mittlestadt reviews. I had him at 8 mostly because didn't have enough info and was stuck on grit factors. But listened to the scouts on him and JB better now.
Didn't know Elias was wiry strong so weight not as much as a factor for physical strength and skating. If he gets to 180lbs plus wiry fine with that for NHL play. You don't want to take away from speed and deceptiveness with too much weight on his frame. |

Once u named him i then tracked him & found him worthy.
As u know my man was Casey but Pettersson is the same risk reward in the end.
Home run is needed & both were good choices IMO

Opting for Lind was a good choice
Gadjovich real happy about
Dipietro surprised still available & luvin it - Nighthawk
even better Lind is listed as RW but he plays C too. So potential for 3C role if top 6 RW is tapped. |

@ballstein. The option to switch picks was not there. - CanuckDon
Exactly. Wish that would be stopped as a hit on JB. I wished he could do it at first if he was going with Elias. Frack Vegas and their greed to take the option away. I saw JB make the call on the floor and got a No. So hate Vegas and dumb ass Nill for not taking Tanev even more now. Will boo those teams often. Good draft and pieces for us either way. |

When we have a JV & maybe go for Kane as a UFA the need for character & leadership from others is a high priority. Some players r only players & those 2 r not expected to be role models. Thats fine cuz all kinds r needed to build a contender. |
