Aside from the draft, was really disappointed in lack of trades from Benning. Was at the minimal hoping he took on some salary for picks/prospects. - phyllee
Sounded like Van got a lot of players they were targeting per round. Didn't need to take on salary right now.

don't know anything about the prospects drafted this morning, but I was glad to see gadjovich (or however you spell his name) picked up, I know a lot of posters on here wanted him.
Disappointed we didn't get Strome, but whatever. Looking forward to learning more about our picks. The draft show on sports net seemed to avoid Vancouver at every pick. |

He's good value yes. But teams who are buying rarely have room to add more then a couple million at TDL. Cap has killed most if not all big deal and trades at TDL. Notice the big trades now. This is the new TDL draft and before free agency to free up money. Cap rules the NHL and why it's gotten so young now with ELC's too. - Nuck4U

Still very impressed with the Pettersson selection but I'll admit to being disappointed with the lack of Defensive prospects in the later rounds.
(frank) me! I wanted Salo bigtime - Whiskey-Tango
Yeah liked him too but he wasn't BPA over Dipietro and upside not that high. |

Yes you are wrong, that statement says that there was a deal and Vegas backed out...not because of Benning announcing to the all GM's in the room....Hey I'm not picking Glass, I want Pettersson, give me a break stringer
So McPhee has this thought that why give up an extra pick, let's ride this out, But because you have a hatred of Benning you want to spin this to suit your narrative. - Makita
Thats a classic example how some ppl react.
Things get a life for only a rumoured report. |

Then why are all the big trades and block busters in June and not TDL? |

Have 19 mill in cap space, just need to sign Horvat (and hopefully Weal). Taking on a few bad 1 year contracts especially a goalie would of been smart. Sure they got players that they were targeting but can never have to many prospects in the system. |

I didn't ignore it, that was pure speculation on your part as well as your interpretation of the source you provided.
I watched the draft, Benning received a call after Makar was chosen, the deal was of he picked up a jersey and headed to the stage. - Makita

Trade for sake of a trade is not the mark of any worthy GM.
Traded a 4th for a 5&6 was fine |

For those of us wanting trades it boils down to Tanev for value or keep him.
Forcing Edler is another option.
Moving prospects is the last option & prolly a poor one at that.
Summary: 2-3 yrs stockpiling & pain is to be expected. |

Well done Carol.
Overall not a bad draft for us. Still wanted Glass/Vilardi over Petersson but it is what it is. Of course willing to give the kid a shot as he has mad skills. Not as excited about this pick as I am about Juolevi but looks to be a decent choice. Time will tell. |

I gotta admit, I thought you would have stopped after your first or second post like your usual MO. But good on you for sticking around.
The meetings and dinners were reported in the media, whether or not you can find reference is not our issue.
You have your mind made up, you hate Benning, you have a closed mind regarding anything this club does as evident with every post you have ever made.
So take care and enjoy your anguish. |

Wasn't petersson mentioned as probably going first if he was a bigger body right now ? |

Wrong. The rumour, as reported, was that Vegas offered us a deal to switch picks - but then they somehow figured out that we weren't taking Glass, so they rescinded the offer.
If we don't do something stupid, we get Pettersson AND a pick. But, we obviously did something stupid and telegraphed our selection.

As much as we all have our own opinions & thoughts it really gets tedious reading all of the woulds coulda crap.
Why cannot we move on with hope & expectations of the future vs repeated history lessons ad nauseum?
IMO live in the present cuz cannot change the past. We have our nose & eyes on the front of our face for a reason. To see & smell what is coming next not what is old news. Ok hoof hearted? |

My God, you people don't understand the subtleties of this at all, do you?
We aren't talking about getting up and announcing who you are planning on selecting - we are talking about things that are a million times more subtle. We are talking about stupid hints that we let out that give other people certain impressions.
For instance, did you know that we set up a special meeting between Pettersson and the Sedins? So, what impression do you think that gave Vegas? When we, with our #5 overall pick, set up a special meeting between the #9 ranked prospect and our super-stars? What do you think Vegas thought when they heard about that? When we didn't do it with Glass?
And, that was just one of the hints we let out. There were others.
You guys need to start thinking about this on a much higher level. - stringerbell

Easy to say this or that would have been a better pick, but we won't really know for a few years.
Anyone got any lineup proposals?

Yeah fine with that. The point they keep making is getting draft picks for cap dumps. I am not aware of any offers like that and wondering if they know someting about it for making it so often.
Only Vegas fleeced Isles on one mostly because of expansion draft. Pretty baren out there by teams offering up picks for garbage. |
