That makes no sense! In the quote above, the GM said that they thought their guy would still be there at #6 when the offer to the Canucks was taken off the table. If this was only about Makar, they would have rescinded the offer the second he was taken at #4 and then they would have said that their guy was already gone, not that they still thought they could get him at 6.

Oh, and interestingly, I just googled looking for this Vegas-Makar rumor you talk about - and there is absolutely nothing about it anywhere! I did find an article about how Vegas was high on Glass though...

EDIT: This doesn't make sense in other ways too. If the Makar thing is true - then, in that interview after they selected Glass when he referred to the player they wanted as 'our guy', he would have to have been referring to Makar and not Glass! Have you ever heard an NHL GM refer to another team's player as 'our guy'? Like ever?

I watched/listened to both Benning and McPhee make comments that you are denying.

I think Glass shared a meal with Benning. Linden and Benning also took out Makar for dinner. Newsflash Stringer, every (frank)ing team does this

So next year we look and see who the Sedins wine and dine to know our first round pick

I heard Elias say in his interview that he only saw Sedins while they were training and he went out with Linden and JB only.

My God, you people don't understand the subtleties of this at all, do you?

We aren't talking about getting up and announcing who you are planning on selecting - we are talking about things that are a million times more subtle. We are talking about stupid hints that we let out that give other people certain impressions.

For instance, did you know that we set up a special meeting between Pettersson and the Sedins? So, what impression do you think that gave Vegas? When we, with our #5 overall pick, set up a special meeting between the #9 ranked prospect and our super-stars? What do you think Vegas thought when they heard about that? When we didn't do it with Glass?

And, that was just one of the hints we let out. There were others.

You guys need to start thinking about this on a much higher level.

You are speculating and talking people down for treating it as such.

I'm not talking about the normal meetings that all teams do - I'm talking about the extra-special meetings only Pettersson (and Makar) got invited to. Jesus.

Extra special meeting... and with Jesus none the less...

don't know anything about the prospects drafted this morning, but I was glad to see gadjovich (or however you spell his name) picked up, I know a lot of posters on here wanted him.

Disappointed we didn't get Strome, but whatever. Looking forward to learning more about our picks. The draft show on sports net seemed to avoid Vancouver at every pick.

Strome is an extreme long shot. Worse skater than Vilardi

Pure assertions.

just made up bunk hate.

But how do you feal about Elias over Glass pick now?

For me it took balls to not go with convention and take a swing for a 1C that could be best talent Center in this draft.

2nd round JB added tons of Canadians heart and grit. Lind a power forward scoring machine that could play C as well. Gadj just tough as nails who can't wait to come here and knock Lucic on his ass and score a bunch too.

The rest are smart picks that hope pan out especially Petrus Palmu the bulldog who is a good buddy of and plays with Gadj too.

With Lebate on the 4rth line... could finally have some beef in the forward core...

from what I've heard we won't see him for another couple of years? Which to me is bogus, get him to Utica ASAP.

He is under contract in Sweden for two more years I think I heard Jim say and he will not be attending young guns

So van will have a few prospects playing against men next season.
Rodrigo Abols playing for Örebro HK in the SHL
Petrus Palmu playing for TPS in Liiga
Kristoffer Gunnarsson for Frölunda HC in SHL
Elias Pettersson for Växjö Lakers HC in SHL

Zhukenov may also go to europe to plays in a mens' league.
Jasek might get a bigger role hopefully.

I also am 100% all for signing Evander Kane as a free agent. Can score goals and if tough. Would make a huge difference for this team, Kane-Gadjovich+Virtanen-Lebate would make all the difference how this team plays.

Like many, I wanted Glass. My mind hasn't changed since yesterday but I'm not down on Petterson. Can't deny his offensive potential... his skating... he's thin... not short... I really don't see any red flags. He looked pumped to be picked by the Canucks... haven't seen that in a while... I like him over Vilardi for sure. I see him as a Mittelstadt with way less risk/unknowns basically. We got one of the best 4 C's, with a development jump and some immediate size over the next year, this kid has the potential to be the best C in the draft... I have to remind myself he's not in junior... So it's hard to be disappointed with the selection. My priority box was checked with an interchangeable name.

I'm really happy with the rest of the draft. Excited about Lind, Grad, Depietro... names that were on my short list for round 2 and 3.

At the end of their careers I doubt you see much of a difference in points or games played.

It was an either or pick.

Eurohaters grinding their teeth why they aren't playing on Comets.

Well you wonder if they moved the team to lower mainland or Portland if the willingness to play in the AHL would be more prevalent?

Toronto media gave Benning a B grade. We know how much they like to sh1t on Vancouver any chance they get. Benning is probably sitting in his office smoking a Cuban thinking "If those d1ckheads gave me a B then I must have done really really good
