But they already have McDonagh,Skjei, Staal.

So right now its just Holden on the right.. Guess AV will have to bring in another lefty for the right side unless they do Shattenkirk and another cheap defenseman in the ufa market.

Really need to sign Smith

Would Holden be an upgrade to Girardi on McD's right?

If so, then roll with that. Resign Smith to play with Skjei, and have Graves play with Staal (if he's here).

Offensively yes, defensively no. I want Holden on the 3rd pair and maybe some PP time.

Right now the D is as follows

Mcdonagh-DeAngelo
Skjei-Klein
Staal-Holden

Not ideal.

Would be nice. I could see him and Holden maybe splitting time and then re-signing Smith and the lighting rod Shattenkirk

I'm not including Klein, I know it's not known if he's retiring or not, but I don't think there's a chance he's here.

I'm know you view me as less than worthy, but Klein hasn't retired yet. So...

rookie defenseman, guy had 60 shots on goal in 39 games. That's what I like to see, a right handed defenseman that (frank)ing shoots the thing

if I were Klein, I would force them to buy me out. I wonder if that's what's going on

There's no way they go to opening night with that. You gotta figure someone like Dumba, Trouba, or shatty in there.

Smith and one of them (or equal to one of them) would be a very solid D. Better then last year and the year before

Hopefully HOlden or Staal are the 7th D, you got something if that's the case

But this is why I always want a some sort of puck moving RH d-man at the draft. Eventually one has to work out. And they haven't taken one in a long time.

I wouldnt count out Bereglazov and/or Pionk making a case for the blueline either, but, most likely they at least start in Hartford

once the season starts, but really sounds like Klein is moving on. The players had a going away party for him.

Didn't know that. That could be awkward if he is back

guaranteed it's a money thing. If Klein voluntarily retires he gets nothing, he could definitely force Rangers to buy out his last year if he wants to be a wiener

Isn't it crazy about this blog how for 4 months people couldn't wait for Stepan to be traded, the day comes where he's traded and it's taken up about 1% of the posts here. It's all about a bust we drafted and about some stud we passed on. And both of them are determined that at 18 yrs old and are skating with their big clubs for the very first time. How long do I have to have my intelligence insulted?

It's been over a year for me, but I don't want to upset some talking about how happy I am. However, I think the return could have been better.

I think they found the one team in the league who would take Stepan's entire contract and not force the Rangers to pay a little bit

So Chayka got to the cap floor, his teams new #1 center, a potential starting goalie for the 7th overall pick and a young project d-man. Interesting.

all of a sudden Derek Stepan is a legit #1 center right?
