His lowest total in a non-lockout shortened season since 2000-01.

Im not looking for Allstar, more or less a capable body to play a position they only have two of where you need 4

Hanzal I think might be cheaper, faster and could last a little longer

Psh, every player on the team needs to be an all star or the team sucks. Didn't you get the memo?

I think Jumbo would fill a need. He can move up or down the line up. Pair him with speedsters for stretch pass finds or slower guys for some power moves. He helps the pp out in a big way. I think the slow foot speed is a little blown out of proportion. "The puck moves faster than your feet". Anybody who's played the sport at a high level has heard that before. But ONLY if it's for a short deal.

There is a lot of interest in Dan Girardi. Hearing he's highly sought after. Will be interesting to see the type of deal he gets post-buyout

What I'm worried about is the Rangers play a type of game that relies on quick transition. Rangers defense isn't the best so there probably will be times where the puck is in the zone for a bit. Think Thornton would be absolutely awful and the complete opposite of this teams identity.

This doesn't surprise me at all. Anything under $3M per is a good deal for that team.

plus he just had knee surgery. I am in the camp of Joe Thornton probably not a good idea, but I am not worried too much about it, be very surprised if he left the Sharks.

But you need players that can also aid in that quick transition. Not every player needs to be lightning fast. You need guys who can make the quick pass to get that transition going. It's something that Stepan did well. He'd outlet a winger moving with speed. Jumbo is one of the best at it. Might be a match made in heaven. But I see where you're coming from, too.

Rangers haven't really been a team that brings back players after they let them go

except when they used to bring Rucinsky back all the time

True, I just think like Jimbo mentioned the knee surgery plus not being fleet of a foot would be a bad idea, imo.
