Big splash? McD Miller+ for Mackinnon and Zadarov. - nyrangers9479
I would pretty much give up anything to get MacKinnon. My love for him is well known. |

THIS.
It's known that both Detroit (pick#9), & LA (pick#11) were highly considering Andersson so did we get pinched taking him at 7? Sure, but it's also known Gordie & Co tried moving up to #3 & select Cale Maker but Dallas wouldn't budge.. Hey I'm just ecstatic we had a first round pick(s).

Again, my issue isn't with Andersson or his skill set. It's where the Rangers drafted him and what he might become. |

What will he become? He can be the next Zetterberg, or the next Joel Lundqvist |

True, but the fact other teams wanted him and your guy Vilardi fell might mean teams scouts knew better than you or any of us.
Only way we will find out, is to see in a couple years the couple guys you wanted before him how they compare. None of us really know.
Why not be happy and enjoy the ride for now? You will have plenty of time once the stats are in in a few years to see if you were right. |

Who do you guys think we'll target on July 1st? I think it's clear Gorton is adding some sand paper in guys like Smith and Deangelo and hope he continues. Some guys I like are Bonino and Mason (depending on how much he would want) and wouldn't mind Boyle. Franson? - nyrangers9479
Shattenkirk, D. Ryan, maybe Bonino or Hanzel who I still like just not for a big contract |

You gotta be retarded to junk he's not gonna play in the NHL but that's not what anyone has said, it's the Rangers desperately not wanting to strikeout with a pick that high |

If he puts up 50 pts a year playing with an edge I'll be happy.....though 60 points would be nice haha. |

One item I would like to bring up that has not been discussed here much is the acquisition of DeAngelo. Yes, he has proven in recent past to be immature, but nobody is talking about his ON-ICE performance. This is a RH defensemen that is young, cost controlled on a cheap contract and he will be given the opportunity to be QB on our first PP unit. Rangers will probably use him on third pairing at even strength. He is still young enough to be coached up in his deficiencies too! |

Why not enjoy the pick right now since none of us knows if the players you wanted will be better.
After a few years you "could" be right and there will be plenty of time to say it was the wrong pick. |

A difficult balancing act to be sure.
Larry Brooks suggests they may look at Joe Thornton on a short term deal. I hope not!
I feel the main priority is a top RH Dman, but they don't grow on trees.
Any chance the Yotes flip Raanta to the Flyers? Yikes. - OLDSCHOOL#6
The delay with the Coyotes in acquiring and taking over Stepan's full remaining contract, was their demand to have Raanta included in the trade, because they deemed him their best option at a low cap hit to replace Smith, & be their #1 goalie.
If not, Stepan would still likely be here as of now, despite them wanting him there as much as was mentioned. Maybe that's also why they had not named a new team captain prior to that trade. I have not checked yet today to see if they finally have done so. They will not flip Raanta anywhere, unless a better option comes their way in some means that they cannot refuse. |

He could be a very good pickup, I expected a little more though, especially adding Raanta in there. Maybe an extra pick or another prospect. |

Backup goalies suck on the market. See Talbot. Remember what we got Raanta for. Ryan Haggerty |

I'd rather be wrong and the poop eater of the thread. No problem from me if that were to happen. The Rangers track record isn't so great this type of situation though. |
