SO Tanev for a 1st rounder likely in the 20-31 range? He has tons more value. You should be ashamed. - Retinalz
Unfortunately the teams looking to acquire Tanev are going to be in that draft range (pending a collapse season like Dallas had this year). A prospect and a 15-31OA pick is the best we can hope for now IMO |

Now that the draft is done, and we know that DAL is trying to offload one of their goalies, and add a new D-man, would you give Niemi/Lehtonen and DAL 2018 1st rounder for Tanev? - Codes1087

lol easy there dad.
I am only looking at the recent trade for Niklas Jharlmarsson (sp?) and the going rate right now for defensive defenseman (shot suppression specialist) is not overly high at the moment. |

That is exactly it. The top 10 or 15 teams in the league will be the ones inquiring about him now, not the ones rebuilding or knowing that they won't be competing next season. I think a competing team will be more likely to fork over a 1st rounder than a team knowing it will be poop next year. |

What's the deal with kulikov ? He was pretty highly thought of a few years ago wasn't he ? - Redmile247
Despite the back issues, he's terrible in his own end. |

And as much as Tanev can be underrated by some, he's not a franchise altering defenseman. Adding him to a building team wont change their fortunes dramatically, he would better impact those playoff teams looking for a reliable top 4 shutdown |

Then your looking in the wrong places. You think the Flames got Hamonic for his offensive play? They got him for his defensive play. Tanev is more comparible to him, not Hjalmersson. Hjalmersson has a shorter contract and is 3 years older, He still got a top 4 dman and a prospect back. Hamonic got a 1st and 2 2nd's. That is what Tanev will be worth. Especially if we are taking back a contract dump. |

You are right, but one single 1st is a spit in our faces. I would expect a 1st from 15-31, a 2nd from 47-62 and a 2nd in 2019. or the 1st plus a solid prospect or NHL ready dman. |

He turns a team like Dallas from a Playoff hopeful to a contender with their addition of Bishop. He provides a huge impact on the defensive side of the puck for any team that acquires him. |

Looks like the Canucks management were listening to that guy at canucks army who came up with those SEAL ratings for the draft this year... Pettersson was #1 among all players, Gadjovich and Lind were 15/16th - NorthNuck

Lol Analytics always wins man. Tanev and Hjalmarsson are shot suppression and defensive minded defenseman. Hamonic generates offensive while playing a decent defensive game (despite having a bad year this year). |

you are essentially selling Tanev for DAL 1st rounder.
Niemi/Lehtonen have one more year on their disgusting deals, and we need a goalie. Not that this pick will land you Svechnikov or Dahlin, but I am all in for acquiring more 1st round picks if this is the approach Benning and company take to the draft - Codes1087
What if we just took the goalie/crap contract, would that be worth a 1st??
Didnt ARI take Datsuks contract get them a 1st?

I view Dallas more as a playoff team that was left disappointed by poor goaltending, I was referring to the BUF's/AZs/VEG's of the league that wouldnt have their seasons altered by getting Tanev.
I think he would be a good fit in DAL though, I also think that teams like Toronto, PIT, WAS, CBJ, TBay would do well to check in on Tanev and see if they can upgrade a spot in their top 4 |

I think Dallas would have to add to that deal. Their 1st could be in the 20 range, which coupled with taking on a bad contract should be worth at least a 2nd as well. |

Marek Stellick and Millard, talking draft: Vegas did very well, having Glass drop to them at 6 helped.
Canucks reached a bit there, just like they did last season when selecting Juolevi. |

I tend to undervalue our players, like I did with Hansen/Burrows. I would be thrilled if DAL gave a little more to that. |

I don't think it's a reach, it's a choice.
Higher upside vs safer pick. |

Their first for Tanev straight up is more likely, as it's not a lock they're a playoff team. Taking on a bad contract as well means they should add to the deal. |

Sweet!
It's always good when ya get what you want/need.
I was away from home for a bit and spent quite a bit of time in a diesel 4 door pickup truck. I keep thinking I should buy that and a trailer. |
