I'd like to see Karl Alzner here at a descent price. - Supirium99
He's more overrated then Gudbranson. |

I don't honestly think we have seen what Gudbranson is capable of. New team, new city injured. I'd take a chance on Alzner for a descent cap hit just to see if he has any of that potential he used to show. It won't really hurt we have a ways to go. |

From the last blog...
Breaking it down this way into the key core of the kids gives better perspective.
Adding the vets & support group is where our fate lies IMO.
Can the D corps supply a PP QB & the offence we woefully lack?
Will the rest of the forwards be fast & puck doggers?
Sufficient grit & forechecking to make us complete?
Top prospects will be fine but in my estimation the rest will determine how good we can be in 3-5yrs. Albeit more prospects will be drafted & cap space is looking good now & later. If all goes well we can look to sign 1 very good UFA in a few years. - Nighthawk
I think you can sign UFA's every year ...you'll probably have to overpay to attact them for the next few years but adding UFA's helps you to get assets for free ( just cap space ) and makes it easier to add through trade
OJ should be able to Qb a pp eventually
Demko becoming a stud helps everything look better ( look at price in mtl)
Hitting more picks late like tree goes a long way

That's better eh?
Imagine you'll get a passing grade from the media.
More draft's like that, less like the JV draft. |

At most in a perfect world & being realistic & wishful....
Tanev for a top 6-8 1st & a 3rd
Edler forced for a 2nd & 3rd
Prospects could be involved depending on the trading partners. - Nighthawk
I really have no idea how anyone thinks this will ever happen. Hamonic a comparable D man was just traded for a 1st and 2nd by a team most likely that will be in the bottom half of the draft next season. |

I dont think you'll see that ... if he's giving anyone a decent price it's wash ...if not wash then another team he thinks would be a contender ..other than that he will look to get paid ...free agent D man always seem to get a lot |

Alzner been playing on pretty much the best regular season team for the past 5 years. His stats don't really show it. Broke 20 points 2 and never got out of the 2nd round. |

We got an "A" rating in a National Post article. I'm just ecstatic that we didn't pick Timothy Bustjegren. |

Don't think JB should overpay for a UFA D to play on 3rd pair with Tanev and Edler not going anywhere for years.
But Vegas have a bunch of extra D's and looks like teams are not lining up to trade with those greedy frackers. So maybe best way JB can return favor, of getting burned on 2nd rounder, is to claim a couple D off them, when they will be forced to put extra D on waivers. |

At this point the team needs to promote from within to earn a spot. I have a feeling someone will legit take a spot out of camp again this year. |

guy has rocks in his head perfect fit for that fan base.
I know it's early and everyone always likes best case scenario but given how bad the Canuck drafts have been this may turn out to be their best draft to date. |

i am pleased with our pick. There were lots of good options and the only players I was strongly opposed to were Liljegren and Rasmussen. I was also clearly not that high on Vilardi as well as evidenced by the 25 arguments I had with Neem over him. Not surprised he dropped.
Also still wondering where the "meat and potatoes" picks have been for the last 3 years Benning seems to prefer undersized euros (with NA heart obviously) |

This is the way I lean as well.
Prospect pool needs oppurtunity & its a healthy situation.
Competition will only serve us better in the longterm

Sure and the money is on OJ stepping in for that. But you know there will be injuries and Biega as back up isn't going to cut it so likely a D will get added. Just prefer not to overpay a UFA and claim a cheap waiver one off Vegas. |

Yes and he will want to get paid a lot for term. Plus go to contender. Two things that don't match Canucks now. |

Like the picks from Saturday. Pettersen might be the right pick, I just didn't like what I saw from him.
Tired of soft players. Hope he proves me wrong.
Like what Carolina, Philadelphia and Los Angeles made out in this draft. |

Maybe ...but for a guy who hasn't won a cup yet and is this close to a big pay day ...I just don't see him giving up both to come home |
