Doesn't look like the #Canucks qualify the contract of F Mike Zalewski. Deadline is today.

Lots of interest in UFA defenseman Dmitri Kulikov who played
with Erik Gudbranson in Florida. Could be on #Canucks radar.

Jordan Weal (despite being undersized) is a forward I would like to take a look at.
I would look to maybe sign Kulikov while his value is at it's lowest.
I would maybe look at Michael Stone

What's the deal with kulikov ? He was pretty highly thought of a few years ago wasn't he ?

Looks like the Canucks management were listening to that guy at canucks army who came up with those SEAL ratings for the draft this year... Pettersson was #1 among all players, Gadjovich and Lind were 15/16th

I am not entirely sure Pettersson will be there for development camp. Didn't JB say something about his season with his team that he is signed for has already started or something?
- Codes1087

I think it was reported he is under contract for next season. Their season also starts in early-mid September, so I think he is probably working to get ready for their training camp ASAP

Florida dealt him to BUF after the analytic geeks took over. Him and Gudbranson were really good together when the Panthers had that one successful season a couple seasons ago. His stock has basically plummeted being on BUF.

Petterrsson actually had TOO much production to compare for past history charts, which is absolutely insane. I think Analytics are not the be-all-end-all in terms of running a hockey team, but I think teams need to utilize the information that is available in terms of who they draft. Jim Benning clearly took this data into consideration when drafting this year.

Yah I read the same thing. I think he is playing 1st division SHL next year and that training camp had already begun. It's too bad, but small price to pay. I think where he plays the following year will be more of a question mark. I almost wouldn't be upset if Dahlen plays SHL (same team?) if can't crack the Canucks roster (which I doubt he will). Might as well keep those two playing together if they are our future 1st or 2nd line.

Definitely worth buying low in that case

Kulikov is a signing that would be fine by me. But, he's a guy you sign a week into UFA. Look to sign players that can't find deals (desperate). Get them cheaper and on a shorter term. Preferably a 1 year deal. I think we're all on the same page here. Acquire players to flip as assets. Add more early to mid rd picks at next years TDL. I wanna see 5 more picks within the first 3 rds next year.

Now that the draft is done, and we know that DAL is trying to offload one of their goalies, and add a new D-man, would you give Niemi/Lehtonen and DAL 2018 1st rounder for Tanev?

I am not sure he lasts that long into UFA though. I am sure 28 other teams know that he has had a few off seasons on that dumpster fire D corps in BUF and will be trying to buy low on him too.

Hell no

EDIT: Hamonic just set the market. a 1st and 2 2nds. If we are taking back a goalie contract they pay more.

you are essentially selling Tanev for DAL 1st rounder.

Niemi/Lehtonen have one more year on their disgusting deals, and we need a goalie. Not that this pick will land you Svechnikov or Dahlin, but I am all in for acquiring more 1st round picks if this is the approach Benning and company take to the draft

Agreed. It would've been nice to get them in the AHL together this season, but keeping them together and away from the temptation of NHL call up is fine by me

SO Tanev for a 1st rounder likely in the 20-31 range? He has tons more value. You should be ashamed.

Over a dozen calls on 25 yr old Jordan Weal. He's on tour this week and is expected to visit the Canucks. North Van kid. Could be a good fit

We all thought Russell was going to be highly sought after and get a big deal on July 1 last year and he went weeks waiting. I would take on Kulikov, Alzner, etc if the price is right and term is short. It would be nice to get proven assets to flip at TDL

Yeah it's nice to see that JB is paying attention to that stuff. Helped me feel better about the pick to see the insane underlying numbers Pettersson had for sure, I had no idea before the draft
